Hi B Pete. No one else as yet has welcomed you to Wikipedia so I do. Thank you for fixing the wikilink 'analog' in my edit of Telectronics. I'm 73 yo & struggling most times with wiki formatting. You are a young fellow with the computer skills of your generation. If you have the time available I would greatly appreciate it if you could assist me now & then -- particularly with properly formatting references. [edit] Herman Hollerith

Hollerith's tabulator is specificlaly described as an analog computer in this Britannica article. [1]. An analog computer, to be brief, uses physical means with which to store data (exactly what Hollerith's tabulator did. A digital computer stores and retrieves information electronically. I did not see Hollerith's tabulator specificly mentioned in the article. Did I miss it? The difference between an analog computer and a digital computer is the way data is represented: as an analog (continuousy variable) signal or a digital (on or off -or- 0 or 1) signal. Analog computers can be either mechanical or electronic, as can digital computers. I would classify the tabulator as a mechanical digital device, as it tabulates the presence or absence of punched holes, which is digital data. B Pete 21:25, 20 February 2007 (UTC)

Hello, B Pete. An automated process has found and removed an image or media file tagged as nonfree media, and thus is being used under fair use that was in your userspace. The image (Image:HondaJet.jpg) was found at the following location: User:B Pete/Rhinobox. This image or media was attempted to be removed per criterion number 9 of our non-free content policy. The image or media was replaced with Image:NonFreeImageRemoved.svg , so your formatting of your userpage should be fine. Please find a free image or media to replace it with, and or remove the image from your userspace. User:Gnome (Bot)-talk 08:05, 16 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Wikimania in Atlanta!

Hi! I noticed your involvement on U.S. South-related articles, categories and WikiProjects, and I wanted to let you know about a bid we're formulating to get next year's Wikimania held in Atlanta! If you would like to help, be sure to sign your name to the "In Atlanta" section of the Southeast team portion of the bid if you're in town, or to the "Outside Atlanta" section if you still want to help but don't live in the city or the suburbs. If you would like to contribute more, please write on my talk page, the talk page of the bid, or join us at the #wikimania-atlanta IRC chat on freenode.org. Have a great day!

P.S. While this is a template for maximum efficiency, I would appreciate a note on my talk page so I know you got the message, and what you think. This is time-sensitive, so your urgent cooperation is appreciated. :) Mike H. I did "That's hot" first! 09:01, 31 August 2007 (UTC)
