B of the Bang will be 56m. Nelson's column including statue and plynth is 57m. Does that count as a sculpture?

[edit] Photo?

In comparison to the photos on the official website, I feel the current article photo doesn't convey the sheer massiveness of the sculpture. Anyone else agree, or have a better photo? --Myfanwy 29 June 2005 02:49 (UTC)

I actually came to this page to comment on the photo after seeing it on the Manchester page. I think the super-bright red car in the foreground is very distracting. I don't mean to criticise the photo's contributor since I think the photo is much better than no photo, but my hope would be that someone else could get another picture of this sculpture. (Also perhaps without some of the ground clutter like the "Sportcity" sign and the lampposts, but that may not be possible given the sculpture's size and proximity to the objects.) "As of January 2007, a safety fence still remains around the sculpture, and doubts about its long-term future are being expressed." Based on that quote, time may be running out to get a photo. --Smiller933 15:52, 4 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] General

I actually read that this is the largest sculpture in the world, and leans further than the Leaning Tower of Pisa.

In general I hate it, I think it's an ugly eyesore (as most locals do), and it cost a few million pounds which could've been used on the police or schools or something, AND it's falling apart! Several times bits have fell off and they've had to close the road to fix it! What a waste of money!

Also, on another site I went to, some American tourists took a photo of it, and labelled it "Sinister Sculpture".
