B. Sandhya

B. Sandhya (born 1963) is the Inspector General of Kerala Police in India. She is also a painter, writer and author of few published books.

She was born to S. Bharathadas and V.L Karthyayani Amma at Palai in Kottayam District, Kerala. She joined the Indian Police Service, after passing the Indian Civil Services Examination in 1988. She served as Assistant Superintendent of Police, Shornur, Joint Superintendent of Police, Alathur, Superintendent of Police, CBCID, Kannur, District Superintendent of Police, Kollam and Thrissur, Asst. Inspector General of Police, Headquarters, Thiruvananthapuram and Deputy Inspector General of Police, Crime Investigation, Southern Range, Thiruvananthapuram.

She married to K. Madhukumar, a senior lecturer in Physics, at Mahathma Gandhi College, Thiruvananthapuram. The couple has a daughter Hyma.

She trained in Human Resources Management from Wollongong University, Australia in 1998. Has passed PGDBA from Pondicherry University, Pondichery in 1999 and took a PhD from Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani in 2005. The topic of research was Accessibility of Women to Criminal Justice System.

She also writes poems and short stories in contemporary Malayalam Magazines. Has published five books of literature and several research papers in Police Science. Edited Impressions, a Short History of Kerala Police, published by the Director General of Police, Kerala, Thiruvananthapuram. [1]

She also serialized a novel Neelakkoduveliyude Kavalkkari in Samakalina Malayalam Weekly published from Kochi, in 2004 - 2005.

The illustrations and cover design for Neermaruthile Uppan was done by the author. The cover picture for the first and third edition of Tharattu was done by the author. She conducted an exhibition of her paintings in Thiruvananthapuram in December 2004. Dabbles in medium like watercolour and oil. Interested in painting using natural colours. Some of the pictures are hand painted using clay, flowers and leaves as medium.

She was involved in the investigation into allegations of sexual assault made against former Kerela Public Works minister P. J. Joseph.[3]
