B. Russell Murphy was the 17th head football coach for the Dickinson College Red Devils in Carlisle, Pennsylvania and he held that position for the first part of the 1923 season. His overall coaching record at Dickinson was 0 wins, 2 losses, and 0 ties. This ranks him 33rd at Dickinson in terms of total wins and 33rd at Dickinson in terms of winning percentage.[1]
After his first two games, Murphy was replaced by Joseph Lightner, who completed the season and went on to coach at Dickinson until the end of the 1925 season.
