Jerry Franklin "B.J." Young (born July 23, 1977, in Anchorage, Alaska, U.S. – November 30, 2005 in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada) was a professional ice hockey right winger. He was drafted by the Detroit Red Wings in the sixth round, 157th overall, of the 1997 NHL Entry Draft.
After playing five seasons in the Western Hockey League with the Tri-City Americans and Red Deer Rebels, Young made his professional debut with the American Hockey League's Adirondack Red Wings in the 1997–98 season. He appeared in one National Hockey League game in his career, with Detroit during the 1999–2000 season.
Young spent his entire career, with the exception of that one NHL game, in the minor leagues. The final three seasons of his career were spent with his hometown Anchorage/Alaska Aces in the WCHL and ECHL. He was killed in a single-car accident in Vancouver on November 30, 2005.[1]
