Dan Berger is an American lobbyist in Washington, DC. He served as chief of staff for Katherine Harris (R-Fla.) when she served in the U.S. House of Representatives.
After being her first congressional chief of staff and political adviser, he became vice president of government relations for America's Community Bankers, then senior vice president of government affairs for the National Association of Federal Credit Unions in January 2006. Throughout his career, Berger has represented financial services organizations and companies including the Farm Bureau, Association of Realtors, FCCI Insurance Group (Florida Employers Exchange), Riscorp Insurance Co. and Insurance Data Resources, Inc. He was also co-founder and managing director of eCapital Group, a Sarasota, Florida venture capital fund focusing on financial services related software and technologies. In addition, Berger is a veteran advisor of numerous successful local, state and national political campaigns.
Berger was born in Allentown, PA and is a lifelong Floridian, growing up in Gainesville, Florida. He has degrees from Florida State University (B.S. economics) and Harvard University (master's in public administration) from the John F. Kennedy School of Government and is an adjunct professor of communication at George Washington University.
Berger is a nationally recognized artist specializing in abstract expressionism and has had several gallery shows, including in New York City and Washington, DC. In addition, he is an avid outdoorsman and is active in several conservation groups and writes and contributes flyfishing and outdoor-related articles for Grant County Press newspaper and westvirginiatroutfishing.com. Berger is also a contributing political analyst on Fox News and others.
For five years in a row, Berger has been selected by The Hill newspaper as one of 30 most influential lobbyists in Washington, DC, chosen out of the 35,000 federally registered lobbyists on Capitol Hill.
Berger and his wife Aimee have one daughter, Shelby.
