Asthana Vidhwan B. Channakeshaviah was a highly decorated Kannada professor for the last generation of the Mysore Royal family. He was awarded the title of Kannada Bhasha Bhooshana (a star of the Kannada language) by the King for translating, on behalf of the King, the 14 volume Bhavishya Mahapurana to Kannada.
Born in Bookanakere in the Mandya district of Karnataka State in India, Sri Channakeshaviah moved to Mysore at a young age and went on to study the Kannada language and became a teacher.
The Babboor Kamme community, to which he belonged, has honoured him by building a Student Hostel in Mysore in his name.
