Talk:B'Day
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
[edit] Singles
The singles count is completely WRONG in this article. The singles are as follows: 1. Deja Vu 2. Ring The Alarm (US Only) 3. Irreplaceable 4. Beautiful Liar 5. Get Me Bodied (US Only) 6. Amor Gitano (Only Certain Latin speaking countries)
Upgrade U was not a single, It was simply a song that managed to climb the charts due to high airplay. Suga Mama and Freakum Dress were simply not singles. Green Light was meant & scheduled to be a single, but was scrapped last minute Listen was a single from the Dreamgirls soundtrack, NOT from B'Day! NOTE: Just because a song has a music video does NOT mean it's a single!!! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 64.81.22.110 (talk) 01:15, 18 April 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Sales
According to Forbes as of 2008 B'DAY has sold over 7 million copies worldwide and 3 million in the United States
Dangerously In Love has sold over twelve million worldwide and over 4 million in the United States
Also on the Beyonce Experience Live DVD page can sombody include how many units it has sold?
PLEASE check reliable sources FIRST though
[edit] I Need Numbers
Could someone help me find or even edit the page with some figures to what number of Sales did Beyonce's album got for every Charts. Thanks. BritandBeyonce 12:56, 30 July 2007 (UTC) The sales now, September 23 are 2,867,100 and it has fallen off the charts after the 53rd week. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Lanairamaadlett (talk • contribs) 13:56, 23 September 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Certification in germany
The Album was certified with gold in germany for selling 100,000 copies.
Could someone add that her album has now sold almost 7 million copies worldwide!!!!!! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 152.42.165.75 (talk) 11:57, 21 September 2007 (UTC)
No because according to the sources it hasn't.76.223.68.235 (talk) 00:28, 6 April 2008 (UTC)
[edit] UPGRADE U
WHY IS SOMEONE DELETING UPGRADE U FROM THE SINGLES AREA? IF SHE REALEASED THE SONG WITH A VIDEO AN A PROMOTIONAL CD IT IS A SINGLE, SHE CAN HAVE BOTH BEAUTIFUL LIAR AND UPGRADE U AS SINGLES AT THE SAME TIME
Do not reissue go to Sexy-sugah.com it states the facts there she said in a japanese interview that her nickname is B so she said that she used that for her cd and also she mentioned that in america that's what they say when they talk about their birthdays.
Would it be worth it to mention that the title "B'Day" could also be a play on Beyonce's nickname, B?
Well, we don't know that for sure. All we know is that "B'Day" will be released on her birthday. You could be right though, maybe the title has 2 meanings: birthday and Beyonce day.
[edit] STOP DELETING
STOP DELETING TRAJECTORIES AND OTHER VALUBLE PARTS IN THE ARTICAL LIKE THE SALES IN THE CHARTS BOX. THIS ARTICAL IS BECOMING MORE SMALL EACH DAY. COULD SOMEONE PLEASE ADD SOME OF THE TRADJECTORIES AGAIN AND ADD SALES!!!!!!!!

[edit] Third SIngle
I don't get something. The article says Irreplaceable is the second single off the album overseas, yet now it's released as the third in the States. Then what's up with Upgrade U? it's climbing the charts, without being officially released?
[edit] THIS IS SERIOUS
WHY DID YOU DELETE THE FREAKUM DRESS PAGE IT DOES HAVE A MUSIC VIDEO IT WAS FILMED BY RAY KAY IT EVEN SAYS IT ON HIS MYSPACE PUT IT UP AGAIN I HAVE SOURCE OR REFS FOR IT ASND IF U DONT U HAVE TO DELETE ALL SONG ARTICLES APART FROM SINGLES. ITS NOT FAIR PEOPLE WORK HARD ON THESE. I REMEMBER SOURCES ON IT SO WHY DID U DELETE IT. Kogoho 01:52, 15 February 2007 (UTC) yeah and to add to that brittney spears has song pages for in the zone for the touch of me or watevur it is. u really need to pay more attention to the refs
[edit] Bonus??
The song that Ryan Leslie produced Keep Giving Your Love To Me, is it on B'Day or Diddy's Press Play b/c Diddy is featured on it.
where's the song Back Up, i heard that's another bonus. but for where?

"Encore For The Fans (Bonus Track) Listen (From The Motion Picture Dreamgirls) (Bonus Track) Get Me Bodied (Extended Mix) (Bonus Track) Déjà Vu (Remix) (Exclusive Bonus Track) "
How are they bonus? Bonus for where?
[edit] iTunes Music Store
Everyone by now knows that iTunes has the pre-order status for future release albums.
I preordered the album from itunes and for some reason got Check on It feat. Bun B. and Slim Thug.
[edit] Trivia
I deleted the amount of pre-orders because this figure it not confirmed by anyone. This is Wikipedia, not a rumour mill.
- I agree; the information hasn't been verified - its also untrue. Plenty of albums have sold more than 700k in their first week - so more copies had to have been shipped before the release, its simple maths. Rimmers 20:20, 4 September 2006 (UTC)
Somebody had posted that figure again. Today, reports surfaced that she is only expected to sell about 205 thousand copies this week. Mjbjosh 17:28, 6 September 2006 (UTC)
No - Pre-order is when you order the album AHEAD of its release date. It does not count toward her first week sales though, but 700,000 were pre-ordered.
[edit] Sales Are Not 700K
Sales according to fist day sales and according to Hits Daily Double she is set to seel between 600 to 650 thousand copies and she has not had 700,000 copies in pre-orders can whoever is writing that stop because it is not true.
I know. Media Take Out were even reporting 200,000 copies of predicted sales but I hope this info was false. Hits Daily Double were saying that she is expected to sell over 600K, and they are usually quite near to the actual figures. I think this article can do without rumoured numbers for a week. In less than a week we'll get accurate numbers.
^^^ i hope it is accurate because i have reported it everywhere.
Now that we have the correct sales figures, it turns out that B'Day had the third best first week sales this year behind Rascal Flatts' "Me and My Gang" and Tool's "10,000 Days". Mjbjosh 19:06, 13 September 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Charts
I want to know why is somebody constantly deleting the chart info for Japan. If the #4 spot or the sales figures are false, leave information in the discussion thread. Mjbjosh 11:32, 8 September 2006 (UTC)
I went to check the Japan charts and it was at #4 and here they had written #1 so i fixed it up back to #4 but someone deleted it. Mr goodrem 3:03am, 9 September 2006
I'm quite new to Wikipedia so I don't know how to put the page on vandalism protection but there are some people who constantly are keeping to delete her charts statistics. I have no clue what is their reason to do so. All chart positions have trustworthy sources so far. Mjbjosh 19:14, 10 September 2006 (UTC)
I don't know how to put a reference in the article itself, but here is the proof for the Belgian chart [1] Mjbjosh 19:51, 10 September 2006 (UTC)
OK, I'm so tired of some morons trying to delete Beyonce's chart positions or inserting incorrect numbers. I took some time to find the respective charts on the web (official websites) and even learned how to insert refernce links. I also took screenshots of the respective positions during the last 15 minutes. So they are all as of 21:11 GMT. (It took me a few minutes to upload screenshots!!!)
Here are the screenshots:
Australia [2]
Belgium [3]
Ireland [4]
Japan [5]
UK [6] Mjbjosh 20:17, 10 September 2006 (UTC)
I did not delete the chart statistics for US that are based on inaccurate data compiled by the Hitsdailydouble website. But I don't also condone posting unverified information. The gold certification is not yet official. Yes, the album sold gold, but only RIAA can certificate albums' status, and they do so after 4 (four) weeks of the album's release. That means we will not see any certifications for three more weeks and when it comes, it will probably be something more than gold. Mjbjosh 23:08, 12 September 2006 (UTC)
[edit] B'Day or B'day?
I think the correct title is B'day not B'Day, at least that's how AMG writes it. Funk Junkie 22:50, 10 September 2006 (UTC)
- Everywhere else it says B'Day. Even in mail I've received from Sony BMG, so.. – (empoor) 08:18, 13 September 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Lost Yo Mind
I'd like to ask once again, why is "Lost Yo Mind" considered unreleased? It was on the digital album. Says so right there in the tracklist. I deleted it but someone added it again.
[edit] Who Keeps taking away sale figures
the sales figures you keep posting ARE FAKE...stop inflating her numbers...someone put that she has already sold 1 million in the USA when she has ONLY SOLD 863,000 according to SOUNDSCAN--stop inflating all her numbers please because this only makes her look like a fool
No - I have heard that the album is platinum BECAUSE the RIAA counts the albums SHIPPED, not sold. so the album very well could be Platinum with 900,000 SALES (confirmed as of October 11).
The album is not certified anything yet [7], but it WILL most likely be certified platinum when it qualifies (read RIAA certification rules, its does not qualify unless it's been in stores for full four weeks) and when the record company pays for the album to be certified. There are countless albums that have sold more than they have been certified, but the certifications have not been updated because the labels have not payed the RIAA fees. Mjbjosh 18:26, 16 October 2006 (UTC)
I did not put that she had sold 1 million copies. and dont you dare accuse me of inflating her numbers so get over it.
[edit] Gold certification
Is there proof that B'Day is certified Gold in the UK? Given her appalling drop out of the charts in one month, I find it hard to believe that she's reached any certification there.
^^ Yeah but the music retailers thought it would be a huge album and they ordered heaps of copies and they probably ordered enough to make the album go gold.
[edit] MCE is vandalizing the article, please help
I keep changing it back to the way its supposed to be but she keeps changing it and making it sicked and twisted. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by CoolBradG (talk • contribs) 00:35, 5 December 2006 (UTC).
[edit] Trajectories (Help Please)
Can someone please add the trajectories again if you can find them because someone deleted them and if you can find out the sales for the album each week for the Billboard 200 that would be great.
- Chart trajectories should not be added to song articles since they constitute an indiscriminate collection of information and contribute little to an article. You may want to read WP:MUSIC/CHARTS#Chart trajectories. —ShadowHalo
I never said to put it on the songs i asked to put it on the ALBUM PAGE!!!!!!!
- My apologies. Song, album, neither one should have chart trajectories, as stated at WP:CHARTS. ShadowHalo 04:27, 10 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] rerealese
i need imideate attention on this can you guys get info on the rerelease and put it on the catygory of the place where it says that the next album is the "bday reissue"
[edit] B'Day → B’Day
I've gone ahead and changed B'day to B’Day, incorrect punctuation was being utilised. It also helps establish that B’Day signifies Birth Day, not Birthday. --Speakslowly 07:38, 11 January 2007 (UTC)
- That can't be typed on the keyboard and All Music Guide and Amazon have it the other way. Epson291 08:55, 5 July 2007 (UTC)
- What Speakslowly (aka Noé Æ) wrote to justify moving the page on 11 January doesn't make sense. The character clearly is an apostrophe, which is given as a typewriter apostrophe ( ' ) rather than a typographic apostrophe ( ’ ) in Wikipedia articles and page names (such as D'Artagnan, D'Hondt method and Tess of the d'Urbervilles). It doesn't matter whether the apostrophe is used to show omission or for any other purpose; that has nothing to do with typography. For consistency, I am going to move the page back to B'Day. --Bwiki 23:11, 17 August 2007 (UTC)
[edit] iTunes makes no sense
Why would it have "Get Me Bodied Extended" twice? somethings not right here especialy sinse the first one is the same length as the the original.
[edit] "IF"?
According to http://music-world.over-blog.net/article-5632397-6.html, the deluxe edition has yet ANOTHER strange different tracklisting, including a song titled "If". Does anyone know about this?
[edit] Hollywood
Should the tracklisting "Welcome To Hollywood" be just "Hollywood"? That's how it's written on the wiki page it's linked to. Tommy22028 01:24, 15 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] something humorous I noticed
This album shares its name with a sanitary product. I wonder if Beyonce realised that when she named it? Does the article mention that it's called B'day because it was released becasue it was her birthday?Nukleoptra 17:53, 17 March 2007 (UTC)

- Umm no but that's kinda obvious: look at the album release date(s?) and go to her biography. Look at her birthdate. ― LADY GALAXY ★彡 Refill/lol 02:07, 16 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Singles section
Someone has added a whole section about the single releases.
My question is, why?
All the info is included in the song articles - so what is the point of duplicating it on the album article? I'd like to see it removed. Opinions? Rimmers 21:14, 27 March 2007 (UTC)
What I would like to know is why "Upgrade U" is constantly removed from the singles area. I don't understand that, because it has been a single for over a month. It has a music video, and its own page on Wikipedia confirms that it's a single.Jdot01 22:11, 29 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Best Buy Exclusive
The new B'Day Deluxe Edition has a bonus track at Best Buy called "First Time" and includes the hidden track "World Wide Woman". "First Time" is actually the same as "My First Time" from the Live at Wembley CD.
[edit] Added A New Pic To Article

[edit] Clean-up
The article goes against Wikipedia, MoS, and the WikiProject in many ways, most obviously with regard to track listings. When I get time I'll overhaul it, if no-one beats me to it. --Mel Etitis (Talk) 18:32, 18 April 2007 (UTC)
Since Beyonce has pulled the deluxe edition from the shelves due to Des'ree's lawsuit -- should that not be mentioned?

[edit] New Deluxe Edition
I was in Wal-Mart last week and I saw a new, different Deluxe without "Still in Love (Kissing You)". It had World Wide Woman as track eight instead, and also contains "If". Wal-Mart page. Ian-sama 22:16, 1 August 2007 (UTC)
- Maybe it's the Asian Edition. BritandBeyonce 00:45, 2 August 2007 (UTC)
- No.... that's listed on the page... plus it was in a Wal-Mart in Chattanooga in the featured section... Ian-sama 09:07, 4 August 2007 (UTC)
- It is probably a correction in response to the lawsuit filed by Des'Ree, who sang "I'm Kissing You," the original version of "Still in Love (Kissing You)," which was to not be reititled or made into a music video, according to the lawsuit. Bulldoggie101 20:45, 23 August 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Why does many pages related on B'Day deleted/redirected?
I wonder why does many pages on B'Day deleted. Like the page entitled "Creole (song)" was deleted. Another one, the page for "Still In Love (Kissing You)" is also deleted. Many pictures from B'Day Deluxe Edition was removed. Also, "Freakum Dress" page was deleted, but why? It provides an information that is not on the "B'Day" page. For example, the page for "Creole" has lots of information but someone will redirect it on B'Day. Can we collect lots of information on the "B'Day" page like "Creole" has provided? But why redirect pages and delete pages, instead of improving, editing or creating a new one? Also, the picture/single cover of "Upgrade U" has been removed. What is going on with WikiPedia? Also, I edited the B'Day page for several times, making it correct, but users keep on changing it. I'm so tired about this. I always fix anything about music. I always sleep late at night just for this, but I always forget my password so I created a new one. (This is my new account, formerly known as "Adam levine ian bagg", "Chris daughtry", "GoodCharlotteLeadVocals", "Joel Madden Good Charlotte" and "Bautistakaizer"). Please help me fix this. - The problem with several of these articles is that they provide false/unsourced information and where about songs that never really mattered. creole was never intended to be a single, it was leaked very early so people believed that. the cover used on the upgrade u page is fan made. no official source shows this image used at all. freakum dress may have a video but nothing much was ever done to promote the song and it didnt have a cd release. Still In Love (Kissing You) is the only article i see worth keeping because of the drama surrounding it but it should be kept under its original title "Kissing You" Ratizi1 04:38, 4 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Has the Deluxe edition really been pulled?
Hello all,
I read in this article that the Deluxe edition has been pulled due to the compliant by Des'ree. However I went to my local Wal-Mart last night and they had the CD (for $5.00! USD) and DVD with "Still in Love (Kissing You)" on it. After this, I'm thinking the statement about it being pulling could be incorrect - or it could be my local Wal-Mart is slow in pulling stuff off the shelves. Comments? - Thanks, Hoshie 12:31, 21 December 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Peer review
Are we going to go on peer review? --BritandBeyonce (talk) 09:58, 6 January 2008 (UTC)
- First off, let me say congrats on a job well done. The article is very good. I have a few issues though. It needs a thorough copyedit for style, tone, prose (a few informal/colloquial words here and there), grammar (a few comma splices and incorrect punctuation). Also, there are too many pictures, many of which add nothing to the article (Neo, the guitar, and at least two pics of Beyonce singing). Also, replace the links that was removed from the rating section of the album infobox (infact, reviews like All Music Guide etc shouldn't be removed). To see which reviews are most important, see: metacritic. Orane (talk) 05:33, 8 January 2008 (UTC)
-
- Thank you. Yah, I hope someone will thoroughly copyedit this one because I'm poor when it comes to that. Maybe, there are too many images on Beyonce, feel free to remove them and arrange accordingly. I really wanted to put at least one image among the many collaborators of B'Day but there's nothing available except Neo's image. The guitar also, I used before the bass guitar image but changed it to the Spanish guitar (used in Beautiful Liar) to depict at least one image because B'Day is completely, I think, instrumental (I even wanted to change it again to conga). But as you said, too many images, fell free to remove and leave the useful one.
-
- About the links, I removed some of them because it is unverifiable, dead url I think. Ok, I'll put back the links and the review of AllMusicGuide (can be found in Billboard). I thought its also dead, so I removed it from the list. --BritandBeyonce (talk) 07:01, 8 January 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Revision
I reworded much of the article, but I left the core facts alone. Only grammatical errors were revised. I was also wondering about the brief summary of the movie Dream Girls found in the article, namely if it could be moved to the actual Dream Girls Article LikeHolyWater (talk) 21:11, 29 February 2008 (UTC)
- I think we should mention a bit about the film because it was the critical moments where Beyonce found inspiration in making this album. At least, an overview. What do you think? By the way, thanks for the revamp. I've been waiting someone will do that. Thanks, very. --Efe (talk) 08:52, 1 March 2008 (UTC)
"Notably more daring and energetic than it's predecessor" Isn't this statement POV?PhoenixPrince (talk) 19:33, 31 March 2008 (UTC)
It's in the opening part of the article, the third paragraph I believe. PhoenixPrince (talk) 23:19, 6 April 2008 (UTC)
It sounds like it came from a review of the album lol. and speaking of which I believe that section needs some work. It's all over the place. It's attempting to show the range of views on the album except most of the views are the same. I think I want to slim it down. Perhaps one or two example of positive reviews and one or two of negative reviews should suffice, not ten or twelve for each. PhoenixPrince (talk) 21:03, 7 April 2008 (UTC)

This article is in decent shape, but it needs more work before it becomes a Good Article.
- Is it reasonably well written?
- A. Prose quality:
- I think it would be best to re-arrange sentence "The album was commercially successful, topping the U.S. Billboard 200 chart on its debut. It sold 541,000 units within a week of release, beating its predecessor, Dangerously in Love. The album yielded six singles, and was successful in music markets, entering the top ten of many charts worldwide. B'Day was re-released on April 3, 2007 as an expanded double-disc deluxe edition" to ---> "B'Day was re-released on April 3, 2007 as an expanded double-disc deluxe edition. The album yielded six singles, and was successful in music markets, entering the top ten of many charts worldwide". As we talk of "debut sales", readers might gat confused with the succession of events. What do you think? A sentence should not start with "Again", also for the background section. REmoved In the Tracks section, US needs to be U.S. A user suggested it would be better to use US. Anyway, Ill will fix them to achieve consistency. Whether is U.S. or US, consistency is the real aim in the entire article... It would be best to replace "movie" with "film" for the Tracks section. In the Releases and promotion section, "Beyoncé" is written, but throughout the article "Knowles" is stated, it would be best to replace "Beyoncé" with "Knowles". Same section, "The re-issue includes", what does it mean? re-issue means re-release Throughout the article, there tends to be a lot of "B'Day", try to even out B'Day and the album.

Two female songwriters were also included in the production team who helped structure the album: Knowles' cousin Angela Beyincé, who had previous collaborations with her debut album, and up-and-coming songwriter Makeba Riddick, who actually made her way onto the team after writing "Déjà Vu", the lead single of the album", covered by Reference 13? If not, a source needs to be found to clarify this. Yes, it is. New section - Music and style, is there a source for "B'Day was musically crafted from a variety of American genres, and like the roots of her previous album, incorporated R&B, hip hop and other elements suited for urban contemporary markets. I changed the wording a bit and sourced that "American" thing. It also took influences from the '70s and '80s styles, inspired through record sampling"? Re-worded and supporting facts are the following sentences Tracks section, "Get Me Bodied" was the album's lowest charting US-released single, having reached the Billboard Hot 100 below top fifty, compared to the album's other releases which entered the top twenty, needs a source. Sourced Again, "The non-official single "Upgrade U" is the album's fourth track. It is Knowles second collaboration with Jay-Z; it is about luxuries a woman has to have to elevate the status of her man. Knowles acts as Jay-Z in part of its music video", needs a source. Sourced and partially reworded This ---> "B'Day was released through Columbia Records in collaboration with Sony Urban Music and Music World Music on September 4, 2007 to coincide with Beyoncé's 25th birthday. Sourced Subsequently, it was released on September 5 in North America", needs a source. Does Reference 37 cover ---> "It was available on Wal-Mart but later released on other markets"? Sourced A source is needed for both ---> "The "Beautiful Liar" and "Upgrade U" videos were premiered on February 28, 2007 on BET's 106 & Park to promote the deluxe edition of B'Day" REmoved. I cant find source but actually its true and "Visiting over ninety venues, Knowles embarked on the tour in Japan on April 10, 2007 and concluded it on December 30, 2007 in Las Vegas". The "over ninety venues" thing is now sourced but the following part is not. But I believe they need not to be fully sourced. If you really require to be sourced, I'll find. In the Controversies section, Does Reference 54 cover the entire second paragraph? The numbers of the sources are now changed because I added some and I cant trace which one you would like me to answer but Im very sure that those controversies are fully sourced.
- C. No original research:
- Is it broad in its coverage?
- Is it neutral?
- Fair representation without bias:
- "After the success of Dangerously in Love in 2003..." sounds like POV, it needs to be re-written, for the Background section. In the Writing and recording process, this sentence ---> "When Knowles started crafting on the album, she was inspired by the approach of Jay-Z who usually had producers working in different rooms, simultaneously", needs to be re-written, as it sounds like POV. Tracks section, "which was suggested by her director Bill Condon", needs to be re-written to "Originally produced for the Dreamgirls' soundtrack, Knowles co-wrote "Listen", which was suggested the film's director, Bill Condon..."
