It is not clear how much the vehcile weights. On the sidebar is says 24t and in the text "25,000 kg (55,000 lb or 27.5 tons" -- Mike Gormez

55,000 lb = 27.5 short tons = about 25,000 kg. So the vehicle weights about 24-25 metric tons. Since those figures are never exact, it's good enough. But I agree, four figures for weights is too much. I think all data that appears in the general characteristics table can be removed from the text, unless there is a reason to keep it. I also agree, I removed some of the data that is already displayed in the table, we don't need it repeated in the article when its right there on the table, added the info about missle lauchers, which may give expanded AA or AT capabilities, also changed the phrase: "credible rumors" to "rumors" because of a lack of citation or source to make them credible Requen 20:36, 15 August 2006 (UTC)

I've reverted most of the edits for the following reason:

• All major sources separate the IFV variant from the APC variant. As such in accordance to the sources, the two models as written here in Wikipedia has to be separated.
• There is no source for calling the Centauro IFV or APC variant as the 'Freccia', except for some Google hits that lead back to Wikipedia and related projects, and a couple of forums in Italian. All major sources used in the article call the IFV and APC variant as simply the Centauro APC or Centauro VBC IFV. As soon as there is a solid source for this, I would be happy to see that the relevant sections be modified.

See on the official Italian Army site: [1]. The name is also changed in the last days in VBM Freccia (Veicolo Blindato Medio - Medium Armoured Vehicle) from VBC Freccia (Veicolo Blindato da Combattimento - Combat Armoured Vehicle). If you know Italian you can also read the "Rapporto Esercito 2006", the official Italian Army annual report. I think that the APC version was the first prototype in late 1996 or the 2002 PT-1 prototype, now there are 4 main AIFV version: standard, combat (anti-tank version with two Spike-LR), posto comando (command center) and mortar carrier. The first batch of 249 vehicles is divided in 172 standard, 36 combat, 20 posto comando and 21 mortar carrier.—Preceding unsigned comment added by 79.2.240.130 (talk • contribs)
