Bénazet-Rennen
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Bénazet-Rennen is a Group 3 flat horse race in Germany for three-year-old and above thoroughbreds. It is run over a distance of 1,200 metres (approximately 6 furlongs) at Iffezheim Racecourse, Baden-Baden in late May or early June.
It was first run in 1972 and is named in honour of Edouard Bénazet (1801–1867), the founder of Iffezheim Racecourse. Initially the race was run over 1,400 metres, reducing to its present distance in 1983. The race was promoted from Listed to Group 3 status in 1995.
