Trading spaces

Under Renovation

Hello, {}, and thank you for signing up to participate in the trading spaces program. As you requested to have your user page renovated by another user, {} will be renovating your userpage. Please contact {} on their talk page about the renovating. The renovating will be listed at Trading Spaces: Undergoing Renovation, please feel free to update the status as it changes. Enjoy! --~~~~

Hello, Ampersand2006! It looks like it will be renovating your userpage. As you can see from mine, I still have computer problems and log on only a little. So before I renovate I need to ask you a couple questions, what do you want on your userpage? Do you want it something like mine?. You said on WP:UPH that it needs a new layout which I will work on. And new content-do you want to leave up to me or do you want to decide what's going to be on the page? I'll be creating a subpage (not postive, but most likely I will) called, /Design. Do you care when I do the renovating? So you can look at my userpage and click /Design to see what I have in mind. Also, I would request that you don't remove/clear any messages from your talk page as you can see can Help:Talk page That is my reason. I don't know but because of computer problems I'll most likely be off until Tuesday though I'll try to get back to you if you reply later today or tommorow. Should be getting a lot of answers as I asked so many questions. This should be fun. GrasslandT 15:47, 9 July 2006 (UTC)

I've yet to add the link, but I am going to right now. All right.....let me start working. I'll be doing it next week, most likely Thursday or Friday, but I might be busy so whenever I can get it in will do. Do you want any images on your page? GrasslandT 17:42, 9 July 2006 (UTC)
All right. If I've come up with a design by Tuesday, I'll be doing the renovating. GrasslandT 18:07, 9 July 2006 (UTC)
I won't be able to actully do the renovating until July 28th or July 29th since I'm going on vacation on the 14th and lasting until the 27th but I'll be starting it today. Tell me how you like the title. If you don't like it I have other ideas. --GrasslandT 21:24, 12 July 2006 (UTC)

Your userpage

So how does your userpage look? There's this neat thing the Pic of the day which changes every day so I thought that would look nice on your userpage. It'll change at the beginning of every day. Your page is going to look sort of like this, in a different format, I think. But then again- I might change my mind and put it in a different style. Any more questions, concerns about your userpage, please tell me at my talkpage. I'm on a trip right now, so I won't be able to answer very quickly, I'd just thought, I'd stop in an do step 2 renovation. GrasslandT 14:45, 16 July 2006 (UTC)

Thank you. I'll do a little bit more on Augast 2nd, right now I'm very busy. Grassland T/ C 18:20, 29 July 2006 (UTC)

Your userpage

I've added motd to your page. For upcoming motto's you can add WP:MOTTO. I won't be able to be on my computer that much over the next coming weeks, but I can show you a ruff design of your userpage at User:GrasslandT/design. I want to put some background color in, and then the content in but tell me what you think of that. It's the bottom- the top's already on your page. I'll do the next renovating around August 17th. Grassland T/ C 20:27, 6 August 2006 (UTC)

So....how do you like your userpage? I think the design is in shape...I just need to get some content on there and maybe switch the design a little bit. Grassland T/ C 23:52, 14 August 2006 (UTC)

Inuyasha->InuYasha

Hi, just want to let you know you don't need to change Inuyasha to InuYasha. I have WP:AWB to use which will make it easier, so I'll be doing it when I get the chance. --Zeno McDohl (talk) 18:10, 15 August 2006 (UTC)

Welcome to Esperanza!

Welcome, Ampersand2006, to Esperanza! As you might know, all the Esperanzians share one important goal: the success of this encyclopedia. Within that, we then attempt to strengthen the community bonds, and be the "approachable" side of the project. All of our ideals are held in the Charter, the governing document of the association.

Now that you are a member you should read the guide to what to do now or you may be interested in some of our programs. A quite important program is Stressbusters, which seeks to support editors who have encountered any stress from their Wikipedia events, and are seeking to leave the project. So far, Esperanza can be credited with the support and retention of several users. We will send you newsletters to keep you up to date. Also, we have a calendar of special events, member birthdays, and other holidays that you can add to and follow.

In addition to these projects, several more missions of Esperanza are in development, and are currently being created at Esperanza/Proposals.

If you have any other questions, concerns, comments, or general ideas, Esperanzian or otherwise, know that you can always contact Natalya by email or talk page. Consider introducing yourself at the Esperanza talk page! Alternatively, you could communicate with fellow users via our IRC channel, #wikipedia-esperanza (which is also good for a fun chat or two :). If you're new to IRC, you may find help at an IRC tutorial. I thank you for joining Esperanza, and look forward to working with you in making Wikipedia a better place to work!

Userpage Content

Ampersand, can you add the stuff about your age; location; hobbies etc? I don't anything about your personal life, so you need to help me with that. Renovation should be done by Spetember 16th, but I'll be inactive until Spetember 4th; so I won't do anything then expect for maybe a couple edits on August 29th. Thanks. September Esperanza Newsletter

Program Feature: Barnstar Brigade
Here in Wikipedia there are hundreds of wikipedians whose work and efforts go unappreciated. One occasionally comes across editors who have thousands of good edits, but because they may not get around as much as others, their contributions and hard work often go unnoticed. As Esperanzians we can help to make people feel appreciated, be it by some kind words or the awarding of a Barnstar. This is where the Barnstar Brigade comes in. The object of this program is to seek out the people which deserve a Barnstar, and help them feel appreciated. With your help, we can recognize more dedicated editors!
What's New?
September elections are upon us! Anyone wishing to be a part of the Advisory Council may list themselves as a candidate from 18 September until 24 September, with the voting taking place from 25 September to 30 September. Those who wish to help with the election staff should also list themselves!
Appreciation Week, a program currently in development, now has its own subpage! Share your good ideas on how to make it awesome there!
The Esperanza front page has been redesigned! Many thanks to all who worked hard on it.
Many thanks to MiszaBot, courtesy of Misza13, for delivering the newsletter.
 1. The proposals page has been updated, with some proposals being archived.
 2. Since the program in development Appretiaion week is getting lots of good ideas, it now has its own subpage.
 3. The September 2006 Council elections will open for nominations on 18 September 2006. The voting will run from 25 September 2006 until 30 September 2006. If you wish to be a candidate or a member of the elections staff, please list yourself!
 4. The new Esperanza front page design has but put up - many thanks to all who worked on it!
 5. TangoTango has written a script for a bot that will list new members of Esperanza, which will help those who welcome new Esperanzains greatly!

November Esperanza Newsletter

Program Feature: Admin Coaching (needs coaches!)
Admin Coaching needs coaches!!! If you are an administrator, or even a generally experienced user, do consider signing up to be a coach.

Admin Coaching, now being coordinated by HighwayCello, is a program for people who want help learning some of the more subtle aspects of Wikipedia policy and culture. People are matched with experienced users who are willing to offer coaching. The program is designed for people who have figured out the basics of editing articles; they're not newcomers any more, but they might want some help in learning new roles. In this way, Esperanza would help keep hope alive for Wikipedia because we would always be grooming the next generation of admins.

What's New?
The Tutorial Drive is a new Esperanza program! In an effort to make complicated processes on Wikipedia easier for everyone, Esperanza working to create and compile a list of tutorials about processes here on Wikipedia. Consider writing one!
A discussion on how Esperanza relates to the encyclopedia has been started; please add your thoughts.
Many thanks to MiszaBot, courtesy of Misza13, for delivering the newsletter.
The last AC meeting (full log)
 • The list of proposed programs has been updated, with some proposals being archived.
 • There is now a new program: the Tutorial Drive! Consider writing a tutorial on something you are good at doing on Wikipedia.
 • The suggestion of adding a cohesive look to all the Esperanza pages is being considered; join the discussion if you are interested!
 • In order to make a useful interlanguage welcome template, those involved in translation projects will be asked what English Wikipedia policies are most important and confusing to editors coming from other language Wikipedias.
 • A discussion of Esperanza's role in Wikipedia is being held, with all thoughts of all Esperanzians wanted!
 • Shreshth91 informed everyone that he will be leaving the Esperanza council as life is rather busy; his spot will be filled by the runner up from the last election, HighwayCello.

Help with RFC

Hello fellow Wikipedia:WikiProject_Nova_Scotia member. I have recently lodged a Request for Comments on the Talk:Halifax, Nova Scotia page. I and several other editors have had a running dispute with user Lonewolf BC. The RFC is This is a dispute about whether it is accurate to continue to refer to the area of or approximately coinciding with the boundaries of the City of Halifax, which became a part of the rural/urban Halifax Regional Municipality in 1996, as a city.

Basically, as I say on the RFC, we all agree that this is no longer a City, but to use former City's boundaries when describing the current urban area as a "city" (note the lower case) is at best arbitrary and at worst a fabrication. The city is now a continuous area that wraps the harbour, from Portuguese Cove (outside of the city of Halifax to the west and south) to Cole Harbour (outside of the former City of Dartmouth to the east). People now refer to the entire urban area of Halifax Regional Municipality as 'the city' and 'Halifax'.

Anyway, the bottom line is at least five people have tried to change the wording of the intro since January, and every time this one user changes it back. I have tried to come up with compromise wording, and he won't dialog. Right now wikipedia says HRM and Halifax are the capital of Nova Scotia. This article is now factually incorrect, in my opinion, and I need your help, please chime in. WayeMason 23:07, 7 April 2007 (UTC)

WP NS

We have an official Wikiproject infobox now! User Wiki Nova Scotia WayeMason 02:12, 30 April 2007 (UTC)

I took a wikibreak to help deal with my wikiexhaustion. Also I am a seasonal wikipedian, as I run the Halifax Pop Explosion, which eats my life in the fall of each year, and leaves my broken shell (last year I actually got bronchitis!) unable to function until January!  :) I finally made the official userbox a couple weeks ago... but official is a nebulous term here on dear wikipedia. Should we merge yours and mine to create *ours* ? WayeMason 11:36, 1 May 2007 (UTC)

Input request

Hi Ampersand2006, there is some discussion currently going on here, and I noticed you have User anime on your userpage. If you are not too busy, I would appreciate it if you could drop some of your ideas on how to reform the portal on the aforementioned talk page. Thanks! « ANIMUM » 23:16, 7 June 2007 (UTC)

Replaceable fair use Image:Dialog1.png

Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploading Image:Dialog1.png. I noticed the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:

 1. Go to the image description page and edit it to add , without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
 2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, fair use images which could be replaced by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if not used in an article), per our Fair Use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Liftarn 14:22, 24 October 2007 (UTC)
