Azeri Breeders' Cup Stakes
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Azeri Breeders’ Cup Stakes is an American Thoroughbred horse race run at Oaklawn Park Race Track in Hot Springs, Arkansas early in the year. The Grade III event is for filles and mares four-years-old and up, and is set at a distance of one and one sixteenth mile on the dirt track. It offers a purse of $175,000 added. (This includes a $75,000 Breeders’ Cup Award.)
In its 5th running in 2009 (once called the Oaklawn Breeders’ Cup Stakes?), the Azeri Stakes is named for Azeri, the American Horse of the Year of 2002, and the American Champion Older Female Horse three years running: 2002, 2003, and 2004.
