Aynuk and Ayli

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Aynuk and Ayli were a British comedy duo who originated from the Black Country in central England.

The duo consisted of John Plant (7 December 1951-21 November 2006) and Alan Smith (born 1935).

They performed across central England from 1984, and performed alongside comedy greats such as Harry Harrison, gaining iconic status across the region.

Plant died in November 2006 after a short illness, two weeks before what would have been his 55th birthday, marking the end of an era for one of British comedy's most popular duos of modern times. He was buried in St Andrew's Parish Church near his lifelong home in Netherton, near Dudley.
