Professor Aykut Karaman is a notable Turkish architect and Professor of Urbanism with Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University in Istanbul.

Born in 1947 in Esme, Turkey, Aykut Karaman is married to Umit Aslim Karaman and has a daughter named Yasemin Ahu Karaman.
He received a degree in architecture from Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University before moving to study and complete his PhD at University of Pennsylvania, Department of Architecture where he specialised in urban design.
His teaching and academic positions include
- Professor of Urbanism. MSGSU, Faculty of Architecture, Department of City and Regional Planning, Istanbul.
- Graduate Program: Theories of Urban Design, U.D. Studio, Urban Morphology, Behavioral Factors in Urban Design, Cases and Models of Urban Regeneration.
- City Planning Undergraduate Program: IV. Year Planning Studio, Sustainable Development Planning and Governance.
- Architectural Undergraduate Program: Urban Design Studio.
- Bahcesehir University, Department of Architecture: Introduction to City and Urban Design, Urban History.
He is a member of Faculty Academic Administration Board of MSGSU, Director of Research and Implimentation Center of Urbanism, Chairman of Urban Design Program and Member of the Commission for the Preservation of Istanbul.
