[edit] Girl with a Pearl Earring

Hello. You're right: Girl with a Pearl Earring (painting) should be moved to Girl with a Pearl Earring. I didn't spot Girl with a Pearl Earring (disambiguation).

I've now amended the seealso links to point to the existing dab page on Girl with a Pearl Earring (painting), Girl with a Pearl Earring (novel) and Girl with a Pearl Earring (film).

Note that some more dab work is needed: Special:Whatlinkshere/Girl with a Pearl Earring, but I'm happy to help with that too. Thanks, Clicketyclack 21:57, 13 April 2007 (UTC)

Dab work done. For now. :-) Clicketyclack 23:31, 13 April 2007 (UTC)

Ha, thanks. Was browsing the internets and found the article. I saw the line, and thought, what the heck, let's just do this. That editor may have been following our activities in the Wikiproject. Maybe. Bluerです。 なにか? 03:35, 17 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] IB page help requested

Axem Titanium, I have left message for the non-IP addresses involved in the previous IB matter. See Talk:IB_Diploma_Programme#Reopening_the_.22IB_is_UN-American.22_debate. I would prefer they get involved as I'm no policy expert. Thank you. --LegitimateAndEvenCompelling 01:36, 24 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] spoiler MFD

A spoiler guideline will still be needed, regardless if the templates are deleted or not. In the very least such a guideline would tell people to not use spoiler warnings or other methods of hiding spoilers. -- Ned Scott 03:01, 16 May 2007 (UTC)

By now you probably realize that policy note at the bottom of the page was not merely meant for the closing admin, but also for any number of people you might otherwise get into an edit war with. O:-) --Kim Bruning 04:21, 16 May 2007 (UTC)

I don't get what the heck your problem with me is. Right off the bat you assumed the worst of me, and you couldn't have been more wrong. If you don't know me, then why would you assume these things of me? You thought I was trying to suppress discussion, but from my point of view the MFD was suppressing the discussion that I and others had in the past. I never thought of this as a way to suppress anyone's opinion, and I felt it was very important to still note everything that was said on the MFD page, but I didn't even have a chance to say that. It was only because I felt like the RFCs and other discussions were being thrown out the window did I act the way I did. Why is that so hard for you to understand? Is it really better to just assume that I was trying to do something as absurd as "crush" the discussion? Any experienced Wikipedian can tell you that such a task would simply not be possible, and it's absurd to think that someone like myself would be so stupid to just try to "hide" opposing views when they are so strong. I'm insulted that you think I would be that stupid, and I'm insulted that you think I would ignore others simply to get "my way". That is not who I am, and that is not how I do things. -- Ned Scott 04:23, 16 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Template:Garth Nix novel

Hi there. I just reverted your edit to Template:Garth Nix novel. I noticed that you noted in your edit summary that "apparently that parameter doesn't do anything". I re-added the documentation text, since this parameter is important - it allows articles to be properly sorted into the category which the templates adds to pages on where it is placed. By this mechanism, The Ragwitch is appropriately sorted under R rather than under T using the form {{Garth Nix novel|Ragwitch}}, since the code uses [[Category:Novels by Garth Nix|{{{1|{{PAGENAME}}}}}]] to optionally modify the sort parameter. Since this is important for use of the template, I re-added the documentation text which you removed, and have subsequently clarified it to explain the purpose of the parameter passed. I hope this isn't a problem. Cheers, Nihiltres(t.c.s) 03:25, 21 May 2007 (UTC)

I suppose it isn't quite necessary, but it's definitely convenient, since the template and the category should always be paired. If only we had StringFunctions enabled throughout Wikimedia projects, we wouldn't need the parameter then. Nihiltres(t.c.s) 03:47, 21 May 2007 (UTC) (cross-posted)

[edit] Sides

I don't believe I did change sides - I had been saying that spoilers violated wikipedia's WP:No Disclaimers policy per the WP:CD (if that link doesn't work it should get you to the content disclaimer) and that they were unencyclopedic.danielfolsom 11:42, 21 May 2007 (UTC)

Oh wow - sorry i was voting really late - I thought you were talking about the series of polls - where there are like 4 of them ... thanks for the heads up!danielfolsom 14:55, 21 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] FF8 plot

I've been using this as a model for the ideal plot summary, but I think we should update it a little bit (I just trimmed it to 990 words, which is even better). There's only one major issue I have, and it is that we never really explain the purpose of Adel, except that she is Ultimecia's final host. Didn't she have some significance to Time Compression? Other script references would also be good, and then there's that final paragraph, which does a bit too much extrapolation. Ideally, though, it would wait until we meet our initial goal of getting every article to GA, but if we're going to use it as our example of an ideal plot summary, perhaps we should brush it up now. — Deckiller 15:26, 22 May 2007 (UTC)

Nah, it's trimmed perfectly (it includes all the info it needs to), but we need to add more script refs. I'm thinking about including the old plot summary I had on FF4 before it was featured; it was like 3-4 paragraphs and 900 words. — Deckiller 23:45, 22 May 2007 (UTC)
Looks good; I think it's about as tight as it's going to get. — Deckiller 01:48, 26 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Music of Kingdom Hearts

[edit] Hahaha

"My philosophy courses are urging me to engage you in a massive debate about our ability to know the truth at all." --Kizor 04:23, 21 May 2007 (UTC)

I know! This one time in philosophy class, we were asked a series of factual questions and also how certain we could be about our answers. There was this one question that no one had any idea about. We had just learned about different methods for determining truth so I suggested that we take a vote on it and whatever we decided would become truth. Suffices to say it was hilarious. Axem Titanium 04:31, 21 May 2007 (UTC)

If that threw you for a loop, you should see my father's religion exams (Question 1: Explain your view on your personal faith. Question 2: Criticize your view on your personal faith.) Thanks for that - these disgressions in the midst of heated debate make it much easier to remember that you're not doing what you are out of malice. --Kizor 19:50, 27 May 2007 (UTC)
Of course not malice. It's nevertheless good to be reminded of that when the debate gets emotional.
It could be that we need to puzzle out in detail how to make arguments effective online, or it could be that this asynchronous indirect medium just lacks the kind of connection that's needed for convincing others. Either way, very few. I was by mentality a holy warrior looking for a holy war to begin with, and I consider the potential effects of spoiler warnings that I'm now aware of insignificant, while the big names on the other side seem to scarcely even acknowledge the effect spoilers' removal has on the readership. Before you sink into despair, what the debate does do is convince the fence-sitters, the incoming people with no strong convictions for either side. --Kizor 20:45, 28 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] List of locations in Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars

I created List of locations in Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars (but, we're probably going to rename it to something like Mushroom Kingdom (Super Mario RPG) pretty soon, since it's a world article now, instead of a list). I need help expanding the Creatures and races section, but any help would be great! Do you think you could help? Thanks in advance! Taric25 17:18, 29 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Re:SMRPG locations

It looks really good. Sorry I can't help too directly; I'm in the middle of a bad week at school. Lots of stuff going on. Off the top of my head, try to condense the actual locations into seven sections (one for each star) and make it prose. That'll go a long way. I like to concept/creation and reception sections. The metaphysics section seems kinda iffy but we can work on that later. Axem Titanium 21:55, 29 May 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for the advice. Pretty much everyone has told me stuff along the lines of changing the list into prose, and I want to do that, however, before I do, I want to finish expanding it. Reason being, I find if I try to clean up and expand and continue discussions on the talk page, I get very little done. That's why if you look at the talk page, you'll see I haven't responded in a few days. User:TTN and I came to temporary agreement, since I have some time off from work, to give me until Thursday, as long as I didn't respond on the talk page. Although, I keep seeing responses on the talk page from that same user…

Anyway, thanks again, and I hope things go well for you at school! Taric25 23:04, 29 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Eyes on Me

Hi, thanks for helping to tidy up today. I came across Eyes on Me (song) which was a two-item disambiguation, at a point in time when Eyes On Me was an article, and moved the former to ...(disam). At that time it seemed a useful thing to do. I also added the other three disam items from the page history on Eyes On Me. It was a bit strong to leave "vacuosity" in the edit history which I found when returning to delete the page myself tonight under WP:CSD:G7. Anyway, it's gone now. Shame about the bad blood on the talk pages, but I agree that the content is stronger in context.

I trust that you are content with the additions I have made tonight at Music of FF8. Would you agree that it is germane to the article to add there that it increased Faye Wong's exposure in the West? Fayenatic london (talk) 23:21, 30 May 2007 (UTC)

P.S. Your category on this page seems inaccurate!

Good, that's sorted out the image properly. How did you know about that parameter, please? It's not documented at Template:Infobox Single. - Fayenatic london (talk) 17:04, 2 June 2007 (UTC)

Hi, just wondering with the offensive behaviour from Kappa, is there any action that we can do to prevent that? --Cyktsui 00:21, 5 June 2007 (UTC)

Yeah, I don't want to have him/her banned unless it gets out of control. In a way, he/she is not threatening anyone, just being very aggressive. However, I believe such behaviour is non-acceptable in Wikipedia at the same time, as we all hope to improve articles. Maybe we should just ignore him/her for now and see if that goes away. Warning has been given already, and I don't want to be too harsh like you have suggested. Thanks --Cyktsui 04:58, 5 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Kingdom Hearts series

Hey, I'm trying to get a discussion going on how to improve the Kingdom Hearts (series) article. I know your user page says you're on a wikibreak, but I was hoping that you could participate in the discussion on the talk page when you get back. I have a feeling that the clean up of the series article may take a while. (Guyinblack25 14:34, 20 June 2007 (UTC))

[edit] WP:FICT rewrite

It already has been controversial, and will continue to be: User:Deckiller/Notability (fiction), discussed at the bottom of WT:FICT. [edit] Kingdom Hearts articles

Welcome back. As I'm sure you're already aware, Kingdom Hearts made it to FA. Just wanted to say thanks for the copy editing you provided for it. Also, I was hoping that you could do copy edits for Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories and Kingdom Hearts II. COM was just put up for FAC by someone, it's lacking in some content and I'm not sure how it will fair, but a good copy edit will improve its chances. KHII looks like it's on par with the first article. If you could do a copy edit I was planning on putting it up for FAC sometime soon. Also, in case you didn't know, KH is also up for featured topic. If one more of the game articles passes FA then the nomination should go through with ease. Once again, welcome back and happy editing. (Guyinblack25 00:32, 18 July 2007 (UTC))

[edit] Need help on editing issues

Hello. I was wondering if I could ask for your help in settling an editing matter. One editor proposes character name changes since he/she don't seem to agree with the official english version and prefers what he/she deducts as the right translation. For instance: english publication says Rubel, Japanese phonetics say Ruvur. Said Editor prefers to spell it as Louvr. Debate is on going at: Claymore Discussion Thanks.-Mickey

[edit] RE: FF7 Dev Copy

I would like to work on the FFVII page sometime when I have a bit more time on my hands...The "Square's Preview Extra" disc was a very interesting find to come across on eBay last month. It includes the 1995 "Siggraph" works, or in other-words the "Final Fantasy VI: CGI Game." It's pretty cool to actually have a copy of that to mess around with on my PlayStation/PC. Aside from that, the disc contains what is supposedly the earliest playable version of FF7 (from very early 1996). You can play the game for about a couple hours or so, and while I don't understand a lot of Japanese, there are a few differences. The most striking is the fact that Aeris is a playable character in the beginning of the game...There were some debates about the reasoning behind this on some forums, but it was concluded that Aeris was originally supposed to be Cloud's "childhood friend" from Nebelheim who also happened to be an Ancient. However, later in the game's development (after this disc was published), the story was altered and Aeris was split into two characters- Aeris and Tifa. Aeris remained the Ancient while Tifa was the childhood friend from Nebelheim...Hopefully that makes sense...Anyway, I'll get around to putting some of this information up on the Wiki sometime in the near future! --Brahman 15:40, 25 July 2007 (UTC)

Perhaps you could do the citation for me? I rarely do citations in that format (the format they are using on the FF7 page), so I've been having a little difficulty with it, but if you can do it without any difficulty, perhaps you could just go ahead and do them? I want to say that the approximate release date for the Square's Preview Extra disc was early-1996 (let's say around January 15 or so, although that's just an estimate). I also saw that they removed our talk about Aeris' presence in the demo, but that was mainly due to the fact that we don't know exactly why she was there- it could be because she was part of the main story at that time or it could also be because they stuck her in as a third party member (as they do in other demo's and beta's); thus, I guess we shouldn't worry about that. Anyway, as long as we can cite the main stuff, it should be fine and add a nice tidbit of information to the page! --Brahman 15:52, 31 July 2007 (UTC)
No, my Japanese-reading is very, very basic, so as far as to what I can "understand" from the demo- not much! I do have other screen-shots of the game, but none that show the in-game dialogue. I can run the game on my PC (via emulation) and take some more snaps of it when the characters are talking and see if we can get something out of it. Not sure when I'll do it (won't be today or anything), but when I do, I can upload them to someplace like "Photobucket" and you can take a look and let whoever can translate them have a shot at it. How does that sound? --Brahman 15:16, 1 August 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for the kind words, but you and Apostrophe have been keeping those pages tidy much longer than I have and y'all have done a great job copy editing the new content. I've learned a lot from working on those pages, KH was the first push for FA I've participated in. OK, someone has already made the move. I just wanted to make sure, but it's moot now. Cheers, Carlossuarez46 03:59, 29 July 2007 (UTC)

I give experienced editors slack, they know what they're doing (usually) and just coming into a scene cold and making life tougher on them is not a good use of anyone's time. Anyway, I'll take what you say to heart and your article is where you want it. Thanks for the advice. Carlossuarez46 04:12, 29 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Fire Emblem

I agree it's an unlikely search term, but a couple of dozen articles depend on it to link to Fire Emblem, until those pointers are moved, it would be unwise to delete this redirect. In making the move, I re-did all the double redirects, but not all pointers. Carlossuarez46 19:57, 29 July 2007 (UTC)

There was another one, something like hack u.g. that may also have the same problem. I notifed the admin who deleted it and s/he may undelete it. Carlossuarez46 20:00, 29 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Kingdom Hearts manga article

Hey, I've been thinking of ways to improve the Kingdom Hearts (manga) artilce, and the conclusion I came to was to redo it as a list of Kingdom Hearts media. More on my reasoning can be found at Talk:Kingdom Hearts (manga). Anyway, I've created a test page of what it could look like on my sandbox page, and was hoping to get your input on it. Also I'm not sure whether or not to move the manga article to a media list or create the media list and then redirect the manga article there. Your thoughts would be appreciated on this whole matter. Thank you.
PS- that edit summary is pretty darn funny. (Guyinblack25 talk 15:29, 6 August 2007 (UTC))

Thanks for your thoughts, I'll wait for what everyone else thinks too and then move the article.
Re:Direction - I'm not sure where to go next. I'd like to take care of the manga article first, and maybe get it up to a Feature list. After that I'm not sure. I'd say either the characters or music articles. Both are in need of attention, though I'm not sure if we can find enough content for either of them. :-\ (Guyinblack25 talk 16:28, 6 August 2007 (UTC))
Re:KH Music - I've actually done about all I think I can do right now. I wish I could have found more info on Yoko's creation part, but oh well. I think Apostrophe has started doing a copy edit of it, it definitely wouldn't hurt to do it again after he's done. (Guyinblack25 talk 21:32, 9 August 2007 (UTC))

[edit] ffvii map

Greetings. I see your point. Something I'm not clear on: do you think this user-created map should be used rather than an in-game screenshot? – Quadell (talk) (random) 17:03, 22 August 2007 (UTC)

Considering Wikipedia's unbelievable image policies (one of the few weaknesses of the project), I bet we'd have even more issues if we use the official version. — Deckiller 17:05, 22 August 2007 (UTC)
I've recieved a request to work on the article Derek Sherinian; ideally, I want to get it to featured status. In addition, I'm working on a few Star Wars things—you know, taking a break from Final Fantasy. We can certainly get every FF article to at least GA status, but there's no time limit. — Deckiller 17:34, 22 August 2007 (UTC)
Well, everyone is going back to school. That was a test to see who was still around. Besides, I don't think the project needs my motivation anymore. — Deckiller 23:19, 22 August 2007 (UTC)

Just for completeness sake:

[edit] Featured topics

Wouldn't it have been better to change the wording in the template rather than the topic names? If there are reasons for the series articles to be named "Something (series)" rather than just "Something", these reasons should apply to the topic names too. Kariteh 17:12, 22 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] List of characters in Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance FL attempt.

You asked me tell you if the were going to be any FA attempts. Well, we're trying for FL. It's in pretty bad condition, but, let's see what can be done. Ashnard Talk Contribs 16:26, 24 August 2007 (UTC)

Thank you for the suggestions. Ashnard Talk Contribs 07:54, 25 August 2007 (UTC)
I hate to be a pain, but I've now tried the method for List of characters in Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance#Greil's Mercenaries. It's not yet referenced, but was this what you were suggesting? I certainly prefer this style. If it's deemed suitable, then I'll do this for all of the characters. Thank you. Ashnard Talk Contribs 09:06, 26 August 2007 (UTC)

One more thing, the other sections shouldn't be as long as Greil's Mercenaries. The characters in G's M are given a much bigger backstory than the other characters. Ashnard Talk Contribs 09:29, 26 August 2007 (UTC)

Thanks. My plan is to write (or rewrite) it first, and then get it referenced. With me having to go back to school soon, I won't have a lot of time to do this, but I'll do what I can when time's available. Ashnard Talk Contribs 15:48, 26 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Your edits to Big Brother pages

Hi. Thank you for your edits to Big Brother 8 (US) and Big Brother: After Dark, however, your edits have been reverted. Removal of the spoiler warning tags has been discussed previously, and it has been decided to keep them on the page. I did however, use your recommendation to move the spoiler tag (the one on Big Brother: After Dark from the top of the page, to the start of the episode summary section. If you still feel strongly about this, please start a new discussion on the corresponding articles' talk page. Thank You. - Rjd0060 18:59, 26 August 2007 (UTC)

I find that your comment might be a little sarcastic or you just didn't believe me. There really is no need for that. But here are a couple examples anyways. The second one is a lot more specific, and might be more what you are looking for.

  • A general note [1]
  • And a more specific discussion:
I think we need to add a spoiler tag at the top of this page. Some viewers would rather see the show to find out information, while this page will be updated with information from the live feeds. Since it would be difficult to stop editors from updating based on the live feeds, I think a spoiler tag will help prevent viewers from reading the information posted that has not beed released on the show. Z1720 04:16, 7 July 2007 (UTC)
I agree, not everyone likes to be spoiled. I know this is an encyclopedia, but it's not a live feed, or message board. People looking up information here, rather than other places that know spoil the show, would be very upset to know before hand on this site. I think this is a common courtesy. Although, people in different time zones will have a problem too. But, should be aware, hopefully, that it is EST zone. At least, it saves the outcome for those on the East Coast, other time zones are aware, I feel, that they can be spoiled because of time zones, not live feeds, etc. - Jeeny Talk 04:25, 7 July 2007 (UTC)
It also fits Wikipedia guidelines on spoilers. See here. I'm going to add the tag, as it is better than the banner that was up before about the upcoming series (which I removed), as it is more obtrusive than the spoiler tag. - Jeeny Talk 04:36, 7 July 2007 (UTC)
Thanks for adding the spoiler tag. :) Z1720 06:26, 8 July 2007
I think it would be good not to have the nominees, or the veto winner in the article until that respective episode airs, its common courtesy for the people who watch the show from episode to episode and don't have live feeds or who simply don't watch BB After Dark on Showtime Too. [edit] Kingdom Hearts (series)

Hi, Axem Titanium.

[edit] Sora's Family

I can see how it wasn't worded appropriately for wikipedia, but that is not vandalism - it is simply rooted too much in speculation.KrytenKoro 04:01, 16 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Use of term vandalism

Please thing twice before you label an edit as vandalism. You reverted what looked like a good-faith edit to Final Fantasy XII, calling it vandalism. From glancing at your talk page and contribution history, you seem to do that fairly often. -- wrp103 (Bill Pringle) (Talk) 17:07, 16 September 2007 (UTC)

Regarding your edits to the Final Fantasy XII Reception section, dude, you continue to redo my edits, which use almost the producer's exact words, changing them to "rushed" which is absolutely not what he said; he never said that any less time was spent on FFXII's storyline than other games in the series. He responded to criticisms he's heard from Japanese fans of the series that the plot wasn't as good as past games in the series. Those were his words. I'm sorry if you (an obvious fan of the game,) don't want that quote up there, but that's WHAT HE SAID and by twisting his words, you're misleading the public.

Info845 20:58, 16 September 2007 (UTC)

Info845, keeping on reverting while leaving your edit summaries blank didn't help your cause. The issue was/is obviously a little controversial, and the neutral balance can be difficult to maintain, so you should have said something in your edit summaries or, better yet, have opened a discussion on the talk page to voice your opinion more clearly. Axem's reasons were perhaps uncorrect, but at least he worded them. Your edits, on the contrary, were totally unexplained, you did nothing to explain them even when you saw that it caused some conflict. You apparently just hoped that silently reverting the article once, twice, or more would somehow eventually resolve the issue: well, this is never the case; issues are never resolved without words. Kariteh 21:33, 16 September 2007 (UTC)

Alright, alright. (to Axem,) I dropped the "fans" line in compromise (because, dude, seriously, the game was in development for over 5 years. Nothing about it was rushed) but just...off the record, I guess, if Japanese fans were as vocal as American fans about the game's plot, I can see why the producer would feel the need to mention it. The way it's worded right now is perfect. To Kariteh, honestly, I have no idea how to even get to my edit summaries, so that's why I haven't made use of them, but either way, (IMO) the source speaks for itself, I'm not sure why it is so controversial. But yeah, I guess we were both willing to compromise. The way it is right now is PERFECT.

Info845 23:58, 16 September 2007 (UTC)

I'm glad to see you two were able to work something out between you. -- wrp103 (Bill Pringle) (Talk) 20:40, 17 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Caption revert

Any particular reason you decided to rever the changes I made to one of the image captions in Fire Emblem? I'm not angry or anything, just curious as to why you decided to take the time and effort to revert something that better described the image. It is possible (though definitely improbable) that someone could arrive at the Fire Emblem page and not know who either Link or Ike are. Maybe they were linked there from the article for a tactical RPG they play on a non-Nitendo platform and pay zero attention to Nintendo products. Anyways, just wondering about your thought process on this one. Infernal Inferno 05:56, 18 September 2007 (UTC)

Oh, I see. That's rather amusing. Whose bright idea was it to put the picture with Link up anyways, at least in that place under that title? Ike wasn't even the main focus of that image. Alright, glad that little misunderstanding is done with. Good for a laugh or two though, eh? Infernal Inferno 23:01, 18 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Super Mario RPG lists

Currently, Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars has two lists pertaining to it (List of characters in Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars, and List of locations in Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars). User:TTN decided it would be best to merge the lists into the main article and split Smithy Gang into those articles. I recently merged Smithy Gang into the list of chatacters by removing the non-notable characters, and I have asserted that a cameo section in the list of characters is valid, per Wikipedia:Trivia sections and Wikipedia:Handling trivia that uses Alex Trebek#Cameos as a good example. I have suggested that we rename the articles per Wikipedia:Requested moves#Requesting potentially controversial moves to something along the lines of Characters of Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars and World of Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars or Mushroom Kingdom (Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars) just like Characters of Final Fantasy VIII and World of Final Fantasy VI or Gaia (Final Fantasy VII). I believe if these articles are to evolve beyond a non-notable list, they should be renamed. For example, List of Final Fantasy VII locations was merged into Gaia (Final Fantasy VII), because a World article is notable, but a simple list of locations is not. That is why there are other secions of the article to make it a World article. It simply has not been renamed yet.

TTN believes the citations in the development and reception sections of the list of locations, books and magazines, are trivial sources. When I added that the 3D perspective of the game is reminicent of Equinox to the main article, TTN removed it since my souce was "the opinions of the Nintendo Power player's guide writers". Although it was actually Nintendo Power magazine, I do believe a magazine is a reliable source, and I gave a page from Next Generation Magazine which also said the same thing. In addition, I was surprized that TTN said that it was from the players guide, since he claims to own the players guide for the game. He has not verified this, since I asked him for citations in May, "Could you look in the back of the Player's Guide and tell me what “types” of … Magic? I forgot what they call it in the game … well, anyways, what types of Special Attack or whatever it is (actually, could you find out what it's called?) there are? I remember some vaguely when I owned the guide like “Fire”, “Jump”, “Electricity?”, etc. Could you provide a citation, like the page number with a quote in context?" TTN replied that he was going to "get to it" (User talk:TTN/Archive 5#List of locations in Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars). TTN claims the player's guide is "at the bottom of a box that's behind at least five others in a cramped space". Seeing that TTN did not recognize that the page was not from the player's guide when I provided a scan of the page in question from Nintendo Power shocked me. However, I have continued to assume good faith by not questioning TTN's honesty.

Per Wikipedia:Consensus#Consensus can change, I have offered five different reasonable, temporary compromises that might integrate my idea with TTN's.

  1. Go over the list of characters so we can delete non–notable characters
  2. Rename the articles by following the steps at Wikipedia:Requested moves#Requesting potentially controversial moves.
  3. Cut down the geography section list of locations by cutting it into the regional maps the adventures use when traveling from one to another. I can get pictures and write the fair use rationals, and someone can cut down the text that has no citation and does not allude to other media.
  4. Write the concept and creation and reception sections for the list of characters
  5. Write the concept and creation section for the main article

TTN rejected my compromise because it still keeps the articles. I agreed I would consider a redirect, but Wikipedia:Article size does not allow that, since the list of locations is currently 82 KB long. Instead, I agreed to help cut down the geography section that is the bulk of the article, but TTN rejected that as well because TTN states, "I am not interested in working on the article in regards to improving it." and "get past this "having sources automatically means that this information is good" mentality." TTN states, "I don't think they have or will ever assert notability." I have replied with, "Wikipedia is not a crystal ball, so if you don't think the articles will ever assert notability, we cannot yet know this, per Wikipedia:Arguments to avoid in deletion discussions#I don't like it.

Would you please take a look at Talk:Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars and give us your thoughts? Taric25 01:25, 1 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Final Fantasy XII

I can see you've changed the sentance in the third opening paragraph in the Final Fantasy XII article. Now that you've mentioned catagories I find your current edit perfectly fine. Before my complaint was that is just said "title of Game of the Year" which would imply overall that year when it won more subs than overall, but now we can agree on what has been put down. I know you're in for the best interests of wiki and I'm glad we've avoided any pointless "edit wars" that are never good for article development. Thank you. Stabby Joe 02:33, 17 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Magnolia (film)

I've already been through this with Tony Sidaway today. I am aware that WP:SPOILER says that spoiler tags are usually redundant. But not always. The article really doesn't have a plot summary (except for the first few minutes of the film). It is almost completely character description. So "Plot summary" or "Plot overview" is an inaccurate section title. The article may need improvement (i.e., a clearer plot summary), but as it is there is no plot summary, and the spoiler tag is needed. Ward3001 20:12, 28 October 2007 (UTC)

I completely agree that the article needs a lot of work. I normally remove spoiler tags, but until the article has a decent plot summary, I think this is one of the exceptions. Ward3001 02:17, 29 October 2007 (UTC)

Do you think that you should remove Final Fantasy Tactics: War of the Lions, since you could just put it by the original Final Fantasy Tactics.

Do you think you should removed The Final Fantasy Legends from the list, since the original Japanese name is Makai Tōshi Sa•Ga, which is not part of the Final Fantasy series. (They only used the name "Final Fantasy" to make profits.

You should add the mobile edition of Final Fantasy Adventure on the Notes section by it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.150.6.17 (talk) 06:35, 20 December 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Merry Christmas!

[edit] regarding Enchanted's Official references to Disney films section

you said "please prosify". I understand where you are coming from, but the section is a reference to a specific document that was provided by the filmmakers to film reviewers outlining (in bulleted format) various Disney references. The section is not intended to be a trivial list of all such references in the film, but only those that the filmmakers specifically mentioned. As such, I would like to remove the prose box you left; while prose style is the preferred method of communicating information in WP, it is not necessarily required if a different method could be used. There is, on the talk page for that article, one such attempt to prosify. If you would like, I suggest you eyeball what one enterprising editor did to see if that would work better... and more importantly, not lead future editors to add their own WP:OR observations to the list. In the current format, at the very least, we can ensure that the content stays static. Your thoughts? SpikeJones (talk) 22:59, 26 December 2007 (UTC)

Thank you for your comment. I agree with your statement of it's not Wikipedia's job to reproduce that document here (copyvio concerns notwithstanding). The document was paraphrased, as opposed to being taken word-for-word. So at the very least, what is presented here has already gone through a basic copyvio review. Your comment of I believe that a sourced section documenting the most important of those references has already been done (to a point) with specific items being footnoted as having appeared in USAToday and other legit news sources. The problem is trying to identify which items on the list are, as you say, most important. My philosophy is that there will be rabid fanboys who will (and have) tried to add their own WP:OR items to the list. Some may be legit, others have been mentioned by the filmmakers to be mere coincidence. By limiting the list to what the filmmakers actually provided, we can at least nip rabid editors from adding their own nonsense to the article... which they will undoubtedly do, if that section is removed. The fact that unbiased news agencies (footnoted) have interviewed the filmmaker about these specific references should be enough reason to include said section (in one form or other) at all. SpikeJones (talk) 00:24, 27 December 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Blanking content

Please do not remove sections and categories, as you did to Cloud Strife here and Sephiroth here, without being explicitly clear in your edit summaries. Really, what is "DX"? I'd rather we discuss this on your talk page rather than battle. Lord Sesshomaru (talkedits) 00:34, 24 January 2008 (UTC)

I did no such blanking; please WP:AGF. I removed a short sentence that was part of a stub section since it consisted entirely of unsourced and unsourceable claims. Also, the rationale for "powers and abilities" sections for comic book characters is that such characters often have long and complicated histories with many revisions to the extent of their powers, based on the current story writer for that character, justifying a section to document such changes. With video game characters, there is no such precedent and no such justification for that type of section. Hence, I removed it. The "DX" was an unintentional gag reflex that that type of website could be cited on anywhere, especially by an experienced editor such as yourself. Axem Titanium (talk) 00:48, 24 January 2008 (UTC)
Explain this removal of categories below. I can't assume anything if your edit summary remains unclear. Lord Sesshomaru (talkedits) 00:52, 24 January 2008 (UTC)
Once again, WP:AGF. Wikipedia:Overcategorization. The categories I removed were not defining (superhuman speed, henchman, thief) or factually incorrect (mass murderer). Remember the definition of mass murderer is a person who kills a large number of people at once or over a short period of time. At no point does he do this; even the fire at Nibelheim doesn't count since we can't assume anyone died and this would fall more under arson (which is also not a defining characteristic). Axem Titanium (talk) 03:04, 24 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Link talk page

Thanks for giving me a hand there. I asked a question on the talk there and was hoping someone could answer it. Regards, Lord Sesshomaru (talkedits) 03:33, 11 February 2008 (UTC)

Oh. For example, there's a June and October date that need wiki-linking. Should I provide a sample? Lord Sesshomaru (talkedits) 03:53, 11 February 2008 (UTC)
I'm currently doing the edits to Link's page (as well finishing other articles) and I was thinking if Ganon should be placed in the flight category (he flew in a couple of the games, I think). He's currently in the teleporting cat. so what to do? Lord Sesshomaru (talkedits) 04:51, 11 February 2008 (UTC)
I would take care of the categories, however, I'd rather leave it to you since your expertise on Zelda-related articles surpasses mine. *Saiyan Saga, Freeza Saga, etc., are official titles of the arcs, hence, the capitalization. Lord Sesshomaru (talkedits) 05:32, 11 February 2008 (UTC)
Axem, I noticed that you didn't remove the teleport cat.[3], is it because it is a trademark ability of Ganon? You were partially reverted, look here. Perhaps you should remark WP:OVERCAT in your edit summary. Just a suggestion. Lord Sesshomaru (talkedits) 02:09, 13 February 2008 (UTC)
Teleport, can't recall, but flying yes; in Ocarina of Time, Ganon possesses the Triforce of Power which allows him to do so, and access to other abilities like energy blasts and some form of sorcery. I don't know about the TV series and other games, what did he do there? Lord Sesshomaru (talkedits) 02:46, 13 February 2008 (UTC)
So does his flying count as unique? I asked what his abilities were in the other games. Perhaps he should also be placed within the martial artist category (Melee, Brawl, can't think of Zelda ones). Reply? Lord Sesshomaru (talkedits) 03:13, 13 February 2008 (UTC)
Heh, guess you're right. One or two games don't count. I left a concern here and thought someone could answer it. Lord Sesshomaru (talkedits) 03:20, 13 February 2008 (UTC)
Afraid not, see Talk:Ganon#Overcategorization. Lord Sesshomaru (talkedits) 21:03, 13 February 2008 (UTC)
I asked you a question on that talk page. I'm considering that we remove all of the excess, unsourced cats. Lord Sesshomaru (talkedits) 22:38, 13 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Finlandia

Did you do a request or something for Finlandia? Please reply below. Thanks, Lord Sesshomaru (talkedits) 22:53, 16 February 2008 (UTC)

Yes. I moved it already. Axem Titanium (talk) 23:23, 16 February 2008 (UTC)
Yeah, I just noticed. {^_^} Lord Sesshomaru (talkedits) 23:34, 16 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] clarification

Hello. I'd just like to clarify something. When I made this change I wasn't debating that fact that a rationale was there or not. If you reread the warning, it was because at the time I tagged the image, it was orphaned. The rationale on the page at the time was for a different article which didn't use the image. So I had to remove the image from the one page it was on which didn't have a corresponding rationale. I hope this clears things up.--Rockfang (talk) 23:33, 21 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] My archive

Why did you remove content from it? I noticed this right when I was going to archive my talk page. You can reply below, Lord Sesshomaru (talkedits) 22:34, 29 February 2008 (UTC)

You had archived the thread in the middle of the conversation so I rescued it and replied here. Axem Titanium (talk) 00:03, 1 March 2008 (UTC)
Oh, ok. The page was getting too big so that's why I did that. Cheers, Lord Sesshomaru (talkedits) 02:35, 1 March 2008 (UTC)
No worries. Axem Titanium (talk) 03:49, 1 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Original research? o.O

  • The exact dates are base off two things: one being the timestamp stored in the rom which shows the date of it being dumped, and is verified by the date stored in the zip files data (winzip stores the last date of creation no matter what). The blog, which is the earliest point found thus far of any news for it, has a clear date up top (I reuse the ref later because Baidu is both significant at least and they do make note of the similarity to FF3). Both dates are clearly verifiable by just looking by anyone, though if I absolutely need a third party to show the dates somewhere I understand that, and will do it.
  • The second one about information based off disassembling the rom is something anyone could easily do with tools from zophar's domain or other sites. The CinnamonPirate.com article covers this as well, but I'm still iffy on using it as much solo as I have, though any sites that did go into great detail that could be used as alt references just copied his whole article (including GoNintendo.com). But still keeping an eye out. If the note is still too much OR, I'll remove it, but would rather some form to keep it there if at all possible.
  • Square's reaction was pretty much a verbatim reference to their privacy policy. Should I just go ahead and cite that outright alongside the image of the email sent? It seems a bit odd to get their opinion on it but then be unable to use it. Nintendo's was worse, but understandable why I can't use it.

Look I know you think I'm trying to be disruptive with this and step a bit on your turf given you've worked heavily on the FF7 article, and we both know the most this page would get there is the footnote it already has with a merge. I'm trying though to make a good article out of this or at least Featured Article, and really do feel strongly as time goes on I can get more information for this and expand it.

Anyway thanks for your time.--Kung Fu Man (talk) 16:09, 8 March 2008 (UTC)

Well it is awkward at the least to leave out the date when the rom was clearly dumped before news about it (and the only place I could cite for that info besides the rom file itself is the site to dl it from, which isn't exactly legal reference material. Guess I'll keep an eye out, see if the date shows up anywhere.

At least I took care of the reference issues with an admin's advice, though that doesn't seemed to have opened the conversation back up or stop the AFD that revolved around said issues...anyway wish me luck :P.--Kung Fu Man (talk) 02:51, 10 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Tidus GA Review

I don't know if you know or not, but a couple FF articles have been up at GA review. The two still going on are Final Fantasy Mystic Quest and Tidus; at Wikipedia:Good article reassessment/Final Fantasy Mystic Quest/1 and Wikipedia:Good article reassessment/Tidus/1 respectively.

Anyway the Tidus article has been cleaned up some and expanded with more real world content. Though the plot info in the "Appearances" section is extremely long and it's been a while since I played FFX and I never played FFX-2. I don't know if you've played the two games, but could take a look at the article and give it a good copy edit? (Guyinblack25 talk 18:46, 13 March 2008 (UTC))

No worries man. You got to got do what you got to do. Hope you didn't miss the days because of something serious. Take it easy. (Guyinblack25 talk 12:40, 14 March 2008 (UTC))

[edit] Retronaut podcast on FFVII

http://www.1up.com/do/minisite?cId=3156908 Might be useful for various reception references to use, at least for FFVII. It's more your department than mine, hope it helps.--Kung Fu Man (talk) 22:48, 14 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Soapbox for discontent?

First, excuse my french but who the hell are you to delete things from the Discussion page? Second, thats not me complaining, thats me talking in a very long winded way about how Fon Rossenburg isn't supposed to be Von Rosenburg or whatever. And reminding people who don't need to limit ourselves, maybe I'm wrong but I don't recall reading that the references need to be in English, a german speaking person can find something in german, use parts of it for the English wiki and source the german bits. If not, delete all of the Japanese versions of characters names for Final Fantasy, they aren't mentioned anywhere in the English version, they exist in the Japanese version. I really do like the games even if they plots change slower thans the technical specs. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.137.207.191 (talk) 03:50, 22 March 2008 (UTC)
