[edit] History
Axewitch was created by Anders Wallentoft (vocals) and Magnus Jarl (guitar). They quickly found Tommy Brage (bass) and brothers Mikael Johansson (guitar) and Mats Johansson (drums). This was the original line-up.
Axewitch quickly established themselves in the world of music when they won a contest where the first prize was to record in a studio. At the end of 1981 they recorded their EP called "Pray For Metal" (released in late 1982).
The EP wasn't so much of a success, but the band kept on playing gigs, and in 1983 Axewitch released their first full length album, called "The Lord Of Flies".
After their second full length album (third release overall) "Visions From The Past", all members except Wallentoft and Jarl quit the band. But, it wasn't any trouble finding new people so they were replaced pretty fast. But their popularity wasn't what it had been.
Axewitch released yet another album in 1985 before eventually breaking up in 1987 with a lot of members coming and going and never releasing any new material.
At that time, Magnus Jarl went on to create a band called Sleazy Rose and former drummer Mats Johansson joined some of the former Mindless Sinner members to play in a band called Skinny Horse. Anders Wallentoft also went on to another band called Regent.
[edit] Reunion
In May 2007, Axewitch reunited with members Anders Wallentoft, Magnus Jarl, Mikael Johansson (who's surname now is A'delid), totally new member Lasse Fallman (bass) and Mats Johansson. The band played a couple of gigs in their hometown Linköping and it's said that they'll record a new album which will be released sometime in 2008.
It is also confirmed that Axewitch will play at the Sweden Rock Festival in 2008.
