[edit] High school career
Storey did not play his first full year of basketball until his senior year at Proviso West High School. He was named to the All-State team in Illinois that year. He then signed with Tennessee out of high school, but ultimately decided to attend New Hampton Prep in 1996–97, averaging 30 points and 12 boards.
[edit] College career
Storey played his freshman season at the University of Illinois before transferring to Arizona State University. He would sit out the 1998–99 season.
Storey was one of the top rebounders in the Pac-10, at only 6–6. He made an immediate impact and gave the young squad some veteran leadership despite being only a sophomore. Blessed with excellent athletic ability, Storey was able to defend guards, forwards and, when necessary, a center. He posted 16 double-doubles in his 85-game career. In 2000–01, he earned Pac-10 Honorable Mention honours, after posting career-highs in points (13.1) and rebounds (9.1), the latter a conference best.
Storey earned his bachelor of Interdisciplinary Studies degree with concentrations in communications and sociology at ASU. In the summer of 2001, he worked for Fox Sports Arizona as a production department intern.
[edit] Professional career
Not chosen in the 2002 NBA Draft, Storey spent 2002–04 playing in Venezuela, South Korea and the USBL. The New Jersey Nets signed him for the start of the 2004–05 season, in which he played 9 contests. Soon waived, he wrapped up the season splitting time with the CBA's Idaho Stampede and again in Korea, appearing for the Wonju TG Sambo Xers. The following season, he appeared to work in 25 games with the Washington Wizards.
Over the Memorial Day weekend in 2006, Storey and teammate Gilbert Arenas were arrested and charged for disobeying the police at Miami Beach.[1] The charges were dropped after Storey made a $250 donation to charity.[2] On a similar note, while playing with the Dakota Wizards of the NBDL, Storey was involved in an altercation with teammate Martynas Andriuškevičius. Storey punched Andriuškevičius in the head during practice,[3] leaving Andriuškevičius with a fractured skull, severe concussion, and a bruise.[4] Though Andriuškevičius did not file charges, Storey was suspended by the league,[5] and on January 5, 2007, the Dakota Wizards terminated Storey's contract.[6]
In 2007–08, Storey signed as a free agent with the Milwaukee Bucks.[7]
