[edit] Blocked
This account has been blocked indefinitely as it has come to my attention that you using the "E-mail this user" feature to aggressive canvass against a current RfA candidate. Such attempts to subvert the consensus of Wikipedia discussions will not be tolerated. WjBscribe 23:15, 11 March 2008 (UTC)
This blocked user (block log | autoblocks | rangeblocks | unblock | contribs | deleted contribs) has asked to be unblocked, but an administrator has reviewed and declined this request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without good reason (see the blocking policy). Do not remove this unblock request while you are blocked.
Request reason: "I am very sorry. I did not know that sending my opinion by email to selected other editors was not allowed. I was unaware of that policy. I have read it now, and I acknowledge my mistake. I sent a number of emails (?about 8) to editors I saw on Cobi's RFA, Acalamari, Crum, Sarah and Useight.
I don't know if it will help the situation to know the replies I got were negative including one "just piss off and die NOW". As far as I can tell my canvassing achieved the opposite effect to what I intended.
I have learned my lesson. I will never do it again. For one thing, after your post to the various noticeboards asking for a counter-balance to my canvassing, it has increased the supports massively.
To everybody, please accept my apologies. I have put you in a difficult position. Sarah said I am a sock. Actually I do not have any other accounts. I always edited WP as an anon using my old ISP until I stopped completely in Summer 2007 when I got busy with a new job in RL. I knew the user Ben by then but had never interacted with him on WP. I resumed editing this week. This time I use a proxy because the IT department at my work has blocked access to WP. Also I registered a username for the first time.
I spotted Ben's name on RfA and wanted to oppose because I felt he had weak experience dealing with policy matters, but I didn't want to post an oppose using my username which has clues to my real full name, so I canvassed instead.
I am sincerely very sorry about my behavior and the disruption it has caused. Maybe I don't get a second chance to use this account again. If so, I should accept the block as a punitive reaction with good grace.
Avrum"
Decline reason: "I'm declining this to remove this account from the unblock category and will defer to the blocking bureaucrat. — Sarah 11:25, 12 March 2008 (UTC)"
Please make any further unblock requests by using the {{unblock}} template. However, abuse of the template may result in your talk page being protected.
The request seems, reasonabvle to me. However, I want to talk to the blocking admin first. עוד מישהו Od Mishehu 06:46, 12 March 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Unblock denied
You didn't just create a new username to send out the messages, you also deliberately did so using a different IP which does strongly suggest that you knew what you were doing was wrong. Given that this is a throw away account with only 2 edits, I don't think unblocking it is appropriate. In any events, the proxy you are using has been independently blocked as part of Wikipedia's general policy of blocking suspected open proxies to prevent abuse of multiple accounts and vandalism. You remain free to create a new account using a non-proxy IP. WjBscribe 21:29, 12 March 2008 (UTC)
