The correct hebrew pronounciatin is Avraham. 'Avram' is a nickname.This article is better placed under the correct name - Avraham Grant. Rzg 15:57, 4 October 2007 (UTC)

The Hebrew page is under "Avraham", but we don't have to follow suit. I believe it's a common shortening - we don't hold the Tony Blair article at Anthony Blair --Dweller 10:50, 20 September 2007 (UTC)
According to Google, BBC used "Avram Grant" 119 times, and "Avraham Grant" only 35. [1] [2] I would move it if you all agree. P.S. Even Chelsea's official website refers to him as Avram [3]. --Angelo 10:55, 20 September 2007 (UTC)

He is referred to in both ways, in Hebrew Avraham gets more results on google but when spoken he's usually referred to as Avram. Yonatan talk 12:51, 20 September 2007 (UTC)

Yes, Avram, or sometimes Avrum, are Hebrew contractions of Avraham. And I agree with the above - the article is certainly better placed at "Avram Grant". Number 57 21:41, 20 September 2007 (UTC)
I've used "Avraham" in the infobox. While convention varies, it seems that generally the "full" name should at least be displayed in the infobox. This is true of Al Gore, at least (Blair's article is a bit odd). Chris Cunningham 16:09, 6 October 2007 (UTC)

The name "Grant" is usually common in English-speaking countries, and not among the Jewish communities. Grant's real last name should be pronounced "Granat" (i.e. A pommegranate), however in hebrew scripture there are no vowels, therefore the external writing of his last name (גרנט) is identical to "Grant", and settled down in the media as such. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 192.118.48.248 (talk) 11:35, 24 September 2007 (UTC)

Pommegranate is Rimon. The article used to contain a vowelised version of his name, which renders "Grant". Presumably one of Mr Grant's forebears immigrated from another country and (like many Israelis whose names don't render well in Ivrit) transliterated their name, rather than changing it. Some of the longer Russian names look impenetrable in Hebrew characters. --Dweller 11:45, 24 September 2007 (UTC)

I've removed a sentence:

I don't think it is useful or necessary to continually update Grant's tenure in Chelsea, game by game. This would be, most probably, counter-productive. Besides, there is an appropriate entry for this and it's about Chelsea FC.-The Gnome (talk) 22:29, 22 December 2007 (UTC)

And how do we know that no previous manager held Zionist views? Or is this just a codified euphemism to alert us to the fact (shock! horror!) that Grant is Israeli and/or Jewish? "Most of his father's family were murdered during the Holocaust and died in Kolyma.[16]" . This does not make sense, the Holocaust involved Nazi activity in Europe, the reference to the deportation from Poland to the Soviet Union was conducted by the Soviet secret police. His fathers family died in Kolyma, Siberia so they were not murdered in the Holocaust. Are there any objections if I remove the mention of the Holocaust? Dean Armond 16:38, 14 May 2008 (UTC)
