Aviel (Hebrew: אביאל) is a small and pastoral moshav in northern Israel. Located near Haifa within Alona Regional Council, it had a population of 511 in 2006.
The moshav was established by the Herut party in 1949 and was named after its name from Israel "Aviel" Epstein, an Irgun messenger to Rome, who was killed in Italy on 28 December 1946. It's original name was Yad HaYod-Daled, after the fourteen Irgun members who died fighting the British.[1]
