Avey Tare is the alias of David Portner (april 24th, 1979), an avant-garde musician and founding member of Animal Collective who first came to light on the ‘Spirit They’re Gone / Spirit They’ve Vanished’ album he recorded with Panda Bear, and initially released on their own Animal label in 2000. He also has recorded with another project called Terrestrial Tones with Eric Copeland of Black Dice, and released an split 12" with David Grubbs and a LP with his wife (ex-Múm) Kristín Anna Valtýsdóttir (aka Kría Brekkan) called Pullhair Rubeye.
