Avey Field State Airport (FAA LID: 69S), also known as Avey Field State/Laurier Airport, is one of three airports which straddle the United States and Canadian border, Piney Pinecreek Border Airport and Coronach/Scobey Border Station Airport being the others. The airport is shared between the State of Washington and the Province of British Columbia. Both the United States Customs Service and Canada Border Services Agency have offices conveniently located on U.S. Route 395 and British Columbia Highway 395, adjacent to the parking area. There are many attractions nearby, and motels and resorts are available within one to four miles. The monthly use count is 40 to 50 per month.
The Canadian community of Christina Lake is 6.5 km north along Highways 395 and 3, while Dulwich, Washington, is approximately 10 miles south along U.S. Route 395.
Avey has a 2,000 foot gravel runway. Field elevation is 1,655 feet and density altitude problems are possible during the summer. Mountains and hills surround the airport, and there are trees in both approaches. An overflight to check field conditions and for presence of obstructions is recommended. The field is usually open from June 1st to October 1st.
