Avenida Marginal

Avenida Marginal (Portuguese meaning the Marginal Avenue in which it runs Marginal, Capeverdean Crioulo, ALUPEC or ALUPEK: Avenida Marjinal, also in the São Vicente Crioulo) is an avenue running from Avenida 9 de Setembro to northeastern Mindelo. The avenue is about 2 km long and is four-laned, at the end of the lanes, it is used for parking. The avenue also serves a link with Lajinha and the road connecting Mindelo and Salamansa as well as Baía das Gatas.

The avenue starts from a roundabout near Mindelo's beach at Lajinha with Avenida 9 de Setembro, it passes into residential buildings. The avenue has several restaurants and taverns, a part of the street runs one way westbound. Several buildings includes the tower and it also features a square in the central part.
The avenue was first paved between the late-1970s and the early-1980s, housing developments arrived and added restaurants and taverns by the street, prior it was Mindelo's northern division between the urban areas and farmlands including open spaces. The avenue later added street lights.
