The company was founded in 2005 by Krishna Prabhakar [2] and a strong engineering team with an excellent track record in network and security management [2]. He is also credited with founding of two successful start-ups prior to Avenda [2]. Before founding Avenda, Krishna was at Cisco Systems where he was Director of Engineering in the Security Technology Group. Krishna also worked in the Voice Technology Group and the Network Management Group at Cisco[2].

Avenda Systems is also funded by private investors, United States Department of Defense (DoD), including U.S. Air Force and Missile Defense Agency, and Department of Homeland Security [3].

Avenda solutions are designed to interoperate with Cisco’s NAC [5], Microsoft’s NAP[6] and TCG’s TNC frameworks [7].
