Ave Maria (Giulio Caccini)

"Ave Maria by Giulio Caccini" is a popular and much recorded aria.

It is a composition by Vladimir Vavilov (1925-1973), Russian Soviet lutenist-composer, the author of numerous musical hoaxes. It was composed ca. 1970. Vavilov himself published and recorded it (Melodia label) with the ascription to "Anonymous" in 1972. It is unclear how the work received ascription to Giulio Caccini, as it is entirely foreign to real Caccini's style.
