[edit] new to Wikipedia
It's not that long since I registered with Wikipedia myself. You look to doing fine. I've found by clicking on "edit this page", but without actually editing/saving, I get some ideas how to edit articles from other users page contributions. Good luck with your articles. [edit] Turton and environs
Ooh, it's about time someone took the Turton and Edgeworth and so on pages in hand. Lovely to see one for Chapeltown too. Are you in the area? I wonder whether the stocks are still over the road from St Anne's? Wikipedia needs a picture of stocks :) Anyway, nice work! Telsa (talk) 23:45, 19 March 2007 (UTC)
- Wow, that was fast work. I hope you didn't go to any trouble. Excellent photo, too. In fact, I am seriously tempted to suggest moving the photo to the top of the stocks article. Telsa (talk) 17:57, 24 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Conflict of Interest?
{{helpme}}
I'd like to write an article on the architect Francis Johnson. I have previously written about him here: http://www.grandtradition.net/?q=hilborough-house-norfolk
My problems are:
- There is already a page for Francis Johnson (architect) - but this seems to be the same person as Francis Johnston (architect).
- I work for Francis Johnson & Partners, the firm he founded.
I never actually met the man and I would not be including a link to the firms website - as we don't have one at the moment. I was intending to site a biography published in 2001 and some newspaper articles. I can also include references to a less flattering article by Jonathan Glancy and not list any work by the partnership after his death.
I am quite busy at the moment so it will be some time before I can write the article. Should I go ahead or am I too close to the subject?10:39, 24 April 2007 (UTC)
- If you haven't done so, I suggest you read through WP:COI. While the guideline states you should avoid making edits where you could have a conflict of interest, it doesn't explicitly forbid it. As long as you make neutral edits (and from your description it sounds like this is your intent) I think it would be OK. Regarding the separate articles, someone has proposed a merge, which seems appropriate. If they aren't merged by the time you make your edits I suggest you be bold and do it yourself. [edit] Split
I made a first split from the List of historic buildings and architects of the United Kingdom, the prehistoric section is now located at List of prehistoric structures in Great Britain. Pax:Vobiscum 19:20, 3 May 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Image:UniLincolnLogoMinerva.gif
Hello Austen Redman, an automated process has found an image or media file tagged as nonfree media, such as fair use. The image (Image:UniLincolnLogoMinerva.gif) was found at the following location: User:Austen Redman. This image or media will be removed per statement number 9 of our non-free content policy. The image or media will be replaced with Image:NonFreeImageRemoved.svg , so your formatting of your userpage should be fine. [edit] Image source problem with Image:BDP Logo 2007.gif
This is an automated message from a robot. You have recently uploaded Image:BDP Logo 2007.gif. The file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.
As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 15:27, 12 September 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. If you believe you received this message in error, please notify the bot's owner. [edit] Image copyright problem with Image:Chetham Arms carving.jpg
Hi Austen Redman!
We thank you for uploading Image:Chetham Arms carving.jpg, but there is a problem. Your image is currently missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously.
