[edit] Misleading use of poll

The article claims that at the time of the 1999 referendum, a majority of Australians supported becoming a republic. That in itself needs a citation, however the statistics used in that sentence (namely A January 2007 Newspoll survey shows that 45% of Australians favour or partly favour Australia becoming a republic, with 36% opposed and 19% uncommitted.) are misleading as they were generated some 8 years after the referendum. I have removed the statistics accordingly. However, if you want the statistics in the article, then please don't come whingeing to my talk page and instead just rewrite the article appropriately.
