Australian Princess 2 is coming. Why they decided to continue this ghastly show is beyond my understanding !!

I'm curious as to whether Jackie O is present with the contestants at the end of each episode, at least when they are in England. There were no scenes in the most recent episode when Jackie O and the contestants were in shot together. I can't imagine that Jackie O would be able to make it out to England once a week for the show.... Of course Channel 10 aren't claiming the show to be live or anyting.... [edit] Wrong info

Why does it say that the winner is Abby Valdes, when it was actually Ally Mansell? Perhaps I was watching i different show :)

glad to see that has been fixed. damn quick too.

The James Ashton linked to in the "Guest Appearances" section died in 1935. Somehow I don't think that this is quite right.Sick chick 15:29, 24 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Union Jack

I find it it quite amazing that both the Jackie O and Paul Burrel referred to the Union Jack, as the English flag, several times during the episode on the yachts. It is of course the flag of the United Kingdom. Paul, of all people, should know better. No wonder the Welsh, Scots and Northern Irish feel disenfranchised!

  • But he's English, so it's not very suprising. - Matthew238 07:17, 15 January 2006 (UTC)
  • He was butler to the Princess of Wales and the Queen, if anything he should be more aware - Mr Ed42 18:10, 21 January 2006 (UTC)
  • Firstly it is the Union Flag not Jack. Socondly Disenfranchised mens that one has had the right to vote removed from them, and as far as I know both the Scotch and the welsh are able to vote in the UK general election.

[edit] Critisism

The show features grandees of Australian society who exhibit tremendous snobbery. Also, Paul Burrell and the other 'international experts' were criticised for being B-class celebrities who had little understanding of the reality of today's society.

An excursion for the girls to design and create their own ballgowns actually involved a trip down to the Spotlight at Dee Why, Sydney to make dresses out of cheap rayon.

Australian Princess resorted to picking out stereotypes of girls (the country girl, the surfer girl, the big ethnic girl) and presenting the footage in a manner that made the show humorous on the surface, but lacking any true ambition or political commentary about the relationship between Australia and the British commonwealth.

erm...it is a reality TV show. If you want politics turn over to the 7:30 report Kransky 09:23, 20 December 2006 (UTC)

(i've moved the critisicm from the main page to here because it's not really infomation you would see in an encyclopedia. Feel free to post more...)

Yes, this show is a load of pretentious clap trap. The show is indeed full of B grade celebrities. It also portrays the members of the aristocracy as snobbish toffs that only mix with other members of the aristocracy, however quite the reverse is true. Furthermore it paints a picture that Australians are uncultured louts. If the show had done it's research properly the would in fact find that there are members of the English peerage (heir's apparent anyway) residing in Australia.

[edit] Bella Models

This has been removed from the Trivia section as it endorses a product, is not NPOV and is irrelevant. Abby Valdes is also a plus-sized model (Australian size 14-16/US 12-14), represented in Australia by Bella Models. Australian Princess does not openly acknowledge this fact, and in so doing the producers passed on a logical opportunity to present a role model for young girls who may believe that weight loss is a key factor in becoming an "Australian Princess". —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 60.224.210.74 (talk) 12:05, 23 December 2006 (UTC).

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Australian princess.gif

Image:Australian princess.gif is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 22:03, 31 May 2007 (UTC)
