Outlaw is a specific term. Please don't categorise people who have not been declared as outlaws. For example: Ben Hall, Charlie Gilbert and Johnny Dunn were the first in Australia’s history to be declared ‘outlaws’ by the government. This status was an extreme measure, which meant anyone in the community could shoot them dead. A week after the declaration, Ben Hall was betrayed by a friend who had his sights on the £2,000 reward.
Only people declared in line with the Felons Apprehension Acts 1865- 1899 (NSW) or equivalent legislation in Victoria and Queensland should be included in this category - for more info see Eburn, Michael (2005).
