Australian Sports Sedan Championship
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Australian Sports Sedan Championship was the national title competition for drivers of cars complying with CAMS Sports Sedan regulations. This class caters for cars of essentially free construction but utilising the bodywork of a closed, series production vehicle.
The championship was run each year from 1976 to 1981 and, after a nine year break, from 1991 to 2003. Each championship was decided over a series of races, with the exception of the 1994 title which was contested over two races at one meeting at Sandown Raceway in Victoria. Although a Sports Sedan Series has been held each year since 2003, its status has been that of a national series rather than that of an official Australian Championship.
