Australian Manufacturers' Championship
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Australian Manufacturers' Championship was awarded by the Confederation of Australian Motor Sport (CAMS) between 1971 and 1994 to the winning car manufacturer in a series of motor races held throughout Australia. Whilst the first two championships were open only to Series Production Touring Cars, later championships were generally run to the same regulations as the Australian Touring Car Championship. The title has been revived twice since then, first to provide a name for the first independent series for the touring car series not yet known as Supertouring in 1994 and again in 2008 to provide a combined name for the merged series of the Australian Performance Car Championship and Australian Production Car Championship.
The actual name of the title was also changed by CAMS a number of times during those years as shown in the following table of championship winners.[1]
