[edit] Introduction

The Australian International School - Indonesia (AIS-Indonesia) is based in Jakarta, Indonesia, but also has schools on the Indonesian Island of Bali and in Balikpapan in Kalimantan. The School bases itself on the Australian system and uses the Victorian Essential Learning Standards (VELS) curriculum framework in years P-10 and offers courses accredited by the ACT Board of Senior Secondary Studies (BSSS) in Years 11 and 12.

[edit] History

AIS-Indonesia was established in 1996. The reason for its founding was in response for a more inclusive education system in Indonesia. Today AIS is the only International school in Indonesia which is capable of catering for children with a range of learning disabilities. It first opened with just 13 students. Today AIS-Indonesia consisits of three schools in Jakarta, Bali and Balikpapan.

[edit] Schools

AIS-Indonesia consists of three schools. The school in Jakarta has a Primary (K-6) campus at Kemang and a Secondary (7-12) campus at nearby Pejaten. The K-12 Bali school is located at Seminyak. The newest AIS-Indonesia school is located at Balikpapan, Kalimantan on the island of Borneo. Combined enrolments passed 600 students for the first time in January 2008.
