Australian Formula Ford Championship

The Australian Formula Ford Championship has been held annually since 1993, being contested each year over a series of races for racing cars complying with Australian Formula Ford regulations. Championship winners to date are shown below.

Formula Ford emerged as a racing class in Great Britain in 1966, with a series first held in 1967. A race was first held at Sandown Raceway in 1969 with the first Driver to Europe Series following in 1970 which was won by Richard Knight. Formula Ford is a open wheel category with a fully adjustably suspension system but is not complicated with aerodynamic wings or slick tyres. Formula Ford rapidly developed into the series for emerging young drivers.
