As of 17 May, 2006, enquiry has been sought by Australian police into allegations by the AFIC treasurer Ikebal Patel that corruption is rife amongst AFIC, including fraudulent access to funds, software and data piracy, sexual harassment, pornography and other illegalities. [1]

The group has been suffering from internal turmoil in 2006 with elections replacing seven of an eight person executive council[3] and the council has been reported to have backed away from a promise to tackle hardline Muslim clerics and crack down on extremist ideologies.[4]
