Australian Coalition for Equality
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Australian Coalition for Equality (ACE) is a national-based lobby group in Australia advocating equal rights for gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender and intersex people.
It was launched on 13 August 2005, to commemorate the first anniversary of the Federal Parliament's passage of a bill amending the Marriage Act of 1961 so that it allowed only opposite-sex couples to marry.
It aims to achieve fairness for same-sex couples in Australian law in areas like superannuation, workplace benefits, marriage, national anti-discrimination laws covering sexuality and gender identity, and equality for families headed by same-sex couples.
Its spokespeople are Rod Swift and Kelly Pilgrim-Byrne, both of whom are involved with Gay and Lesbian Equality (GALE) in Western Australia.
