Elections to the Australian Capital Territory Legislative Assembly were held on Saturday, February 21, 1998. The Liberal Party of Australia under Chief Minister Kate Carnell retained all its seats despite a small swing against them, remaining in power as a minority government. To date, this is the most recent state or territory election that the Liberals have been able to form government after.
On October 18, 2000, Carnell stepped down and was replaced by Gary Humphries.
