Austin Head

Austin Head (54°31′S, 36°30′W) is a headland 2 miles (3.2 km) north-northwest of Leon Head, projecting into Undine South Harbour on the south coast of South Georgia. Surveyed by the SGS in the period 1951-57. Named by the United Kingdom Antarctic Place-Names Committee (UK-APC) for Elijah Austin, a leading merchant of New Haven, Connecticut, USA, who sent out the first two American sealing vessels to South Georgia in 1790.
