Austin Academy is a middle school in Garland, Texas. It is part of the Garland Independent School District. It follows the magnet program, most students going to Garland High School to complete the IB Diploma Programme.[citation needed]
Austin Academy was named a 1992-93 National Blue Ribbon School.[6]

The attendance rate for students at the school is 98%, compared with a state average of 96%. 30% of the students at Austin are economically disadvantaged, 6% enroll in special education, 71% enroll in gifted and talent programs, 8% enroll in career and technology programs, and 11% are considered "limited English proficient."[3]
The ethnic makeup of the school is 44% White, non-Hispanic, 33% Hispanic, 12% African American, 11% Asian/Pacific Islander, and less than 1% Native American.[3]
The average class sizes at Austin are 21 students for English, 23 for foreign language, 22 for math, 23 for science, and 24 for social studies.[3]
Teachers at the school carry, on average, 11 years of teaching experience and 17% of the teachers on staff are first-year teachers.[3]
