[edit] First artificial limb?
The article says "He also invented the world's first artificial limb, the Stodola arm."... However, this link: [1] on the history of prosthetics states that limbs were being developed hundreds of years before, by Ambroise Paré. This website: [2] notes that Herodotus tells the story of a Persian man with a wooden foot (which is an artficial limb). This is a clear overstatement. -LeeNapier 18:54, 19 June 2007 (UTC)
Modified Stodola Equation In the ST model used in GateCycle, the external characteristics of off-design steam turbines are determined using the following modified form of Stodola's ellipse law:
W=Cq*SQRT(Pb/vb)*SQRT(1-((r-r*)/(1-r))^2)
Where: W = inlet flow rate to group stage Cq = flow coefficient Pb = bowl pressure vb = bowl specific volume r = outlet pressure ratio r* = critical pressure ratio
