The Aurora building is a proposed construction project that if granted planning permission would dominate the Belfast skyline. At its height of 109 metres, 37 storeys, it would be the tallest building in Northern Ireland. The proposed location of the Belfast tower is on the corner of Great Victoria and Ventry Street (the site formerly home to the city center's last petrol station). Great Victoria Street also fronts other notable buildings in Belfast such as the Grand Opera House, the Europa Hotel and The Crown Liquor Saloon.[1]

The development will contain almost 300 apartments and 7,000 square feet (700 m²) of commercial space. It is seen as a key regeneration project for the area, which has not experienced the same level of investment as the city centre, Cathedral Quarter or Laganside in recent years.[2]

If completed, it will be 70 ft taller than the Obel Tower, which is due to be completed in 2010. The crown of tallest building on the island of Ireland would still be held by the approved U2 Tower in Dublin which is currently aiming for 130 or 180 metres.

The contractors involved in the development are McAlister Holdings, Strategic Planning and HKR Architects.
