Auressio

Auressio is a village and former municipality in the canton of Ticino, Switzerland.

It was first recorded in year 1233 as Oraxio.

The municipality had 240 inhabitants in 1795, which increased to 273 in 1808. It then declined to 198 in 1850, 164 in 1900, 76 in 1950 and 52 in 1960. In 1990 it had risen again, but only to 71.

In 2001 the municipality was merged with the other, neighboring municipalities Berzona and Loco to form a new and larger municipality Isorno.
