Aurad is located at 18.25° N 77.43° E.[1] It has an average elevation of 542 metres (1778 feet).

As of 2001 India census,[2] Aurad had a population of 16,189. Males constitute 52% of the population and females 48%. Aurad has an average literacy rate of 56%, lower than the national average of 59.5%; with 60% of the males and 40% of females literate. 17% of the population is under 6 years of age.
