I'm wondering about the accuracy of the statement "He coined the term "Android" (Andréide in French) in L'Ève future." ... I just found an 1883 US patent for "Androides or Automation Shoe Factory" where the "Androides" are mechanical factory workers with human appearance. This predates Villiers' 1886 novel L'Ève future.
