[edit] Good view from California!!!
I'm observing from Garden Grove near Disneyland and using Binoculars; this event is progressing quite well with the Moon in the Southwestern sky.

- I'm getting a GREAT view from Tucson. I bet it's not as good as at Disneyland, and I lack binoculars, but this lunar eclipse kicks major arse from the view I have. Hope everyone else is enjoying it as much as I am. 6 mins till greatest eclipse! 71.228.150.138 10:31, 28 August 2007 (UTC)

- Totally kick-ass view from Long Beach. I brought up my 60mm telescope, and though my eyepieces are pretty lame it's pretty breath-taking. Currently the moon is hanging over the city looking like a shriveled orange. -- IlyaHaykinson 10:39, 28 August 2007 (UTC)

- This is the Tucson IP address guy from before. I got a kickass photo thanks to someone watching it with me that told me exactly when the greatest eclipse happened. Wish I had a telescope or binoculars, but hey, this is good enough for now. Yadaman 10:43, 28 August 2007 (UTC)

- Storms obscured the sky from where I am. Philippines, all I see here are dark and dull clouds. Ruined. 210.213.218.115 10:43, 28 August 2007 (UTC)

- This is awesome... Who knew nature could be so awesome? I missed them all, but someone here with me has seen several shooting stars, and the eclipse is just awe-inspiring. Hope you all are enjoying the view, except for people who can't, for them just enjoy the photo... ^^; Well, seeya all in a bit! Yadaman 11:02, 28 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Inclusion
Does the notability of this event warrant an article? As far as I know lunar eclipses are fairly common, and there's nothing spectacular about this. ALTON .ıl 10:19, 28 August 2007 (UTC)
I think it's up to you...I'm just posting my "impressions" about it here DURING the event.
AstronomyGuy1975 10:23, 28 August 2007 (UTC)

- It's sort of important, since this time, the colour of the moon is blood-red. Serpentine17ice 10:35, 28 August 2007 (UTC)

- I would imagine its somewhat a loss to the community if wikipedia fails to keep a record of events that are significant to some cultures. The eclipse has been widely reported in media world wide, and followed by millions. Perhaps it would be more suitable for the article to be incorporated within the general lunar eclipse page, under its own sub heading. (203.97.174.105 06:56, 29 August 2007 (UTC))

[edit] Timeline
Anybody want to do up a short timeline of events using simple terms to describe each phase? Would much appreciate it. Cheers, Rothery 14:17, 28 August 2007 (UTC).

[edit] Deletion?
I'm not going to strongly defend this article, didn't read in detail the deletion policy, mostly this could be improved to be worthy - a MAP is more useful than text for me in showing locations - like [1] AND some top-quality images would be nice. Individual eclipses have historical significance, and I imagine intersting post-eclipse details could be collected and edited here. It was a very dark eclipse. Anyway, I don't have time or energy to help much, so delete away as needed I guess! Tom Ruen 00:12, 30 August 2007 (UTC)
- So much for my self-control! I added a bit on related eclipses, with online references. Tom Ruen 00:58, 30 August 2007 (UTC)
- God bless your self-control—excellent job, Tom. This is the best practical demonstration that people should stop complaining about notability and just look at valuable information to expand existing articles --DarTar 12:22, 30 August 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Photo gallery
Would it be better if the photos of the lunar eclipse were put in the <gallery> tag instead of a table? Hohohob 11:12, 30 August 2007 (UTC)
- Gallery is easier, but annoying to me, can't control borders, margins, etc. Tom Ruen 16:45, 30 August 2007 (UTC)
- I added a gallery with reasonably small thumbnails and 4 images per row to avoid annoying horizontal scrollbar at average resolutions. How does it look? --DarTar 20:55, 30 August 2007 (UTC)
-
-
- Looks good. I'm just grumpy because I don't know the argument tags like that! (Although I must dislike the expansive margin space) Tom Ruen 03:04, 31 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Stat table
I tried a stat table at 3 March 2007 lunar eclipse, and a smaller one here, figuring better to wait a bit for one good one before duplicating (or making a template). UNLESS both are deleted first?! Tom Ruen 01:19, 1 September 2007 (UTC)
-
- The idea is nice, and IMO a good candidate for a template (although much information added there is also present in the article) but I'd like to see more margin between the box and the rest of the article. --DarTar 23:33, 3 September 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Danjon scale
Does anybody know how this eclipse was rated on the Danjon scale? --Hamsterlopithecus (talk) 12:46, 31 December 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Poor image
The image is not sufficient quality to feature on Wikipedia IMO. It is extremely noisey and grainy. It is meant to be mainly demonstrating the eclipse, however the image lacks any special detail of this to justify its existence. 58.179.95.181 (talk) 13:43, 31 December 2007 (UTC)
- It's a very-wide angle view. I don't know if quality related to that or what. Apparently intended to show stars and milkyway visible during the eclipse, which would be invisible under light of an ordinary full moon. Tom Ruen (talk)
[edit] Photo gallery
Lots of images in commons to choose between:
