Augustin Thompson

Augustin Thompson 25 November 1835 - 8 June 1903

Thompson was born in Union Maine and served in the 28th Infantry, Maine Volunteers in the Civil War. He attended medical school after the war and began practice in Lowell MA in 1867.

He created his original patent medicine Nerve Food in 1876 and later used it in a carbonated beverage in 1884. He trade-marked the product as Moxie in 1885.
