Auer (Italian: Ora sulla strada del vino; German: Auer an der Südtiroler Weinstrasse; Archaic (1190AD): Aura) is a comune (municipality) in the province of Bolzano-Bozen in the Italian region Trentino-Alto Adige/Südtirol, located about 35 km northeast of the city of Trento and about 15 km south of the city of Bolzano. As of 31 December 2004, it had a population of 3,334 and an area of 11.8 km². About 70% of the population speak German as their native language, 30% Italian.[1]
Auer borders the following municipalities: Aldein, Bronzolo, Montan, Tramin an der Weinstraße and Vadena.
