Poof?
What happened? I haven't seen you around in a few months. bahamut0013♠♣ 12:10, 4 December 2007 (UTC)
Your page has been ripped
Are you aware your page has been ripped and is currently being used here? I have even noticed that all the links point to your page as well. Just thought you might like to know. This user has also done the same in ripping his header from another user as well.

Hello
- That's quite strange. You can try my Gmail account, which I'll email to you (don't really want it posted on Wikipedia, it's sort of an emergency account and the less spam the better).
- I'm afraid I'm a bit in the dark as to your project - unless I missed something, you never actually specified what it was. Sounds interesting, though. I've been spending most of the day (from 1:30 PM to about 12:30 AM) fighting with my computer, Ubuntu to work on my system and agree to share the hard drive with Windows XP. So far I think I've at least got them all on speaking terms, however a friendship between the Ubuntu and the rest of the computer doesn't seem to be possible in the near future.
- Good to hear you've made some progress, though - looking forward to taking a look at it. :-) Hersfold (t/a/c) 05:23, 24 September 2007 (UTC)

Thanks... |
Thank you for showing your support for me in my recent RfA. Unfortunately, I was unable to earn the required consensus and did not succeed. I do hope to put in another request in a few months, once I have improved upon the concerns addressed by the rest of the participants. Your expressed trust in me will definitely help me reach that goal. Thank you again, and happy editing! Hersfold (t/a/c) 01:32, 5 September 2007 (UTC) |
Re: Ready...?
Sorry about that... yeah, I can try to put something together tonight. Thanks for your support on the RfA, but I don't think it's going to happen. You usually needs at least 70% support to get the post, and it's not happening. I'll try again sometime later on, though. Who knows, maybe third time's a charm. Hersfold (t/a/c) 23:17, 31 August 2007 (UTC)
- Sorry, Audi, I'm going to have to give the lesson tomorrow. I can't get it tonight. I'll let you know when it's up. Hang in there! Hersfold (t/a/c) 02:39, 1 September 2007 (UTC)

- Ping! Sorry again for the wait. Hersfold (t/a/c) 18:16, 1 September 2007 (UTC)
Re:I'm Back!
I had started to wonder... ok, well good to see you back. :-) Hope the work's not bringing you down too much. See you around the wiki, I'll drop in with some pointers every now and then. Happy editing! Hersfold (t/a/c) 13:13, 29 August 2007 (UTC)
Ping, and goodbye for a short while
I've updated the adoption page again. Thanks for your responses, they were all correct but for the one you missed.
This may be the last message from me for a few days - I'm about to move in to my dorm at UMBC, and will have limited access to Wikipedia (and time to do so). This starts another free-editing period, as I describe in fuller detail on the adoption page. So enjoy yourself, don't blow up the 'Pedia, and I'll be back soon. Ish. Hersfold (t/a/c) 04:47, 24 August 2007 (UTC)
- Ok, I've finally figured out the internet connection here, so am back online, if in reduced edit mode. Happy editing. :-) Hersfold (t/a/c) 16:24, 26 August 2007 (UTC)
New lesson ready
Ping. This one's very important, so make sure you ask me questions if you're at all unsure about anything. Hersfold (t/a/c) 17:13, 22 August 2007 (UTC)
- Ping again. Sorry that took so long. Hersfold (t/a/c) 16:57, 23 August 2007 (UTC)
Your first award

The Excellent Userpage Award |
These pages are really something quite extraordinary. In just over a week, you've managed to set up a very professional-looking userspace. Few users can claim that their userspace is as organized and aesthetically pleasing as this one. Very well done, and certainly very promising! Your adopter, Hersfold (t/a/c) 04:38, 22 August 2007 (UTC) |
The only thing I find awkward is your policy of how we're supposed to post these messages. You do know that most people are used to clicking that "+" tab at the top of the page... which adds the header to the bottom? Just wondering. Anyway, well done. Hersfold (t/a/c) 04:38, 22 August 2007 (UTC)
- P.S. - I believe I forgot to mention previously - Ping!
Userboxes!
Hi, I really like what you've done with your userspace. You're about as anal fastidious in organizing your userboxes as I am! Have you ever considered making some? Surely you've added one or two that weren't quite right, or couldn't fine one for something you like. Let me know if you want to get into creating them, I can help you get started. bahamut0013 ( ♠♣§ ) 13:11, 21 August 2007 (UTC)
- I gotta say, I'm impressed with that little tutorial you made up. Maybe you should browse the ideas/requests page and put your skills to work. You pick stuff up pretty fast. bahamut0013♠♣ 19:19, 21 August 2007 (UTC)
Hey, how's it going?
Hey, Audacitor. Just checking in on things. Your work is looking pretty good so far, but I think we're about ready to start some more direct instruction now. There's a few things I noticed in your contributions that I'd like to address before you go too much further. Sound ok? It'll take me a little while to get things set up, so I'll let you know. :-) Hersfold (t/a/c) 17:33, 20 August 2007 (UTC)
- Ok, ready when you are. Hersfold (t/a/c) 17:49, 20 August 2007 (UTC)

- Sorry for the delay. Your next lesson is ready. What's with the green cross over there? Hersfold (t/a/c) 23:49, 20 August 2007 (UTC)

Your Reversions
I must ask you to be exceedingly careful when you are reverting other contributors' edits. I see that you have Lupin's popups now, but the efficiency with which you can use this tool in fighting vandalism does not imply that you have to be any less discriminate about what changes you revert. This edit was not vandalism.
Cheers. — madman bum and angel 12:33, 20 August 2007 (UTC)
Welcome to Boot Camp Wikipedia!
Hey, Audacitor! I'm glad you accepted my offer. Welcome again to Wikipedia.
The idea of the adopt-a-user program is to help new users (such as yourself) learn from experienced users (such as me) about how to use Wikipedia and help improve the project, and to keep you from turning to the dark side of the vandal. You know that already. What you don't know, and what I partially don't know, is exactly how we're going to do that. You are the first user I've adopted (If you're not too sure about that, don't worry - there's still time to run for the hills!). I'm going to try and structure this based on what I know from assisting new users at the Help Desk and the IRC help channel, and from what I've seen other people do in their (successful!) adoptions.
So, the first thing would be a short survey for you, to see what you are interested in so that hopefully we can find a group of editors you can work with easily. You don't have to answer any of these questions, however the more you do, the more we can find for you to do on the Wiki. Here goes:
- What subjects interested you in school? History, English, Math, Sports, etc.?
- If you currently hold a job, what do you do? If not, what would you like to do?
- Where do you live? (For privacy reasons, please don't be too specific. I'm just looking for country and/or state/province. If you happen to live in a large city, go ahead and include that if you want, but otherwise don't post your hometown.)
- Are you good at reviewing other people's work (such as for grammar, spelling, style, or for grading)?
- How patient are you?
- What are your feelings about vandalism?
- Are you comfortable using Wikimarkup yet, or do you still need some time getting it to work?
While you're thinking of the answers to those questions, let me mention one more thing. I've set up in my userspace an area for us to coordinate the whole adoption effort, so that hopefully our talk pages won't end up being 10 miles long by the time you graduate. You can find it at User:Hersfold/Adopt, or by clicking on the "/Adopt" link at the bottom of my userpage. If you could, I'd like you to post your responses to this survey there. That way, they'll be a little more hidden from the general view, and they won't clutter up your or my talk page.
Ok! Looking forward to hearing from you again, Hersfold (t/a/c) 15:38, 17 August 2007 (UTC)
- Sorry, forgot to mention. If you ever feel you need to talk to me about anything, you can leave a note on my talk page. If you have to speak to me immediately, I'm usually on the help channel at #wikipedia-en-help on freenode while I'm online, which you can check on my talk page. If I'm not around, you can always ask at the Help Desk or add the code {{Helpme|your question}} to your talk page here. Hersfold (t/a/c) 15:46, 17 August 2007 (UTC)
- I've left a response to your survey answers and instructions on what to do next at Adoption HQ. Hersfold (t/a/c) 17:43, 18 August 2007 (UTC)
Hello! Looking for adoption?
Hello, Audacitor! I saw you were looking to be adopted, so I wanted to offer my services as an experienced editor. My name is Hersfold, and I've been on Wikipedia for about 7 1/2 months now. During that time, I've helped all over the project, including Articles for Creation, Motto of the Day, the Help Desk, among many others. Outside of the project, I'm a native Floridian living in Maryland and about to go to the University of Maryland Baltimore County for college. I'd be more than happy to "show you the ropes" around Wikipedia; just drop me a message on my talk page if you'd like me to "adopt" you. If not, please drop me a line anyway just so I know - your comments may help me out in the future. Anyway, I'm looking forward to hearing from you, but in the meantime, happy editing! Hersfold (t/a/c) 15:44, 16 August 2007 (UTC)
