Template talk:Audio-pipe

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This template combines sound and text links without extra mess, such as help files. It was developed by Woodstone for the Help:IPA pronunciation key, where there are multiple links and space was at a premium. kwami 21:38, 26 October 2007 (UTC)

The extra mess was added back in, and I deleted it. There are other templates for that; this is used on pages like help:IPA where we don't want a hundred links to (info). kwami (talk) 22:22, 10 January 2008 (UTC)
The info links are needed because at least some of the audio links are GFDL. Attribution/source information and a GFDL dedication must be linked. --Kjoonlee 07:51, 20 January 2008 (UTC)
I thought I had made myself clear by saying "Must provide info link if used with GFDL audio samples" in my edit summary. :( --Kjoonlee 07:52, 20 January 2008 (UTC)
So, the solution to the mess at help:IPA is to rescind the GFD licenses of the sound files? kwami (talk) 08:08, 20 January 2008 (UTC)
I don't think of it as a mess, but if you don't like it, then you can upload PD or LGPL audio samples. --Kjoonlee 08:13, 20 January 2008 (UTC)
I'm not very familiar with the word rescind, but if you mean revocation or annulment, that would be impossible. (Unless the GFDL dedication itself was a copyvio.) --Kjoonlee 08:19, 20 January 2008 (UTC)
