I am doing some research for a class in Deaf Ed/Communication Sciences and Disorders. I am very interested in the Auditory-Verbal Method I have become aware of through some of my reading. One site I visited had a CI Simulation offered which I will include for your review if you have not already had the opportunity. My questions are very basic in relation to the CI Simulation and CI implants.

The simulation indicates the higher the number of channels, the better the amplified sound the individual will hear. Therefore, Does an implant have varying channels for selection to "program" the amplification or modulation for the individual or do CI's currently have a ceiling on the number of channels as technology continues to be developed?
