Audiodreams
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Audiodreams is a promoter/producer of dance parties based in New Zealand. It was founded in 2006 by Brent Silby (aka DJ "Maestro-B") along with a number of teenage students from Unlimited paenga tawhiti, a special designation secondary school. Audiodreams is notable for providing raves and dance parties specifically for the all-age market. Events are alcohol and drug free, and provide young people with a safe environment to gather and dance. This has happened at a time with increasing public concern about large public gatherings of teenagers consuming alcohol illegally.
Audiodreams events typically run from 8pm-3am on a Saturday night, and can attract several hundred people. Events are marketed heavily and target the under 20 year old age range. As a venture that began as an entrepreneurial project in a secondary school, there has been interest from educators throughout New Zealand and Australia in the learning processes underpinning the venture. In particular, interest has been shown in how New Zealand curriculum objectives have been holistically woven through the project.
